Updated: Replying to the Owner: It happened yesterday July 06, 2025 at around 3:35PM to 4:00PM. That choom picture was taken at 3:32pm before it happened. The area we were seated at was at the end of the bar (left side closer to the kitchen/restroom.) I appreciate your prompt reply and looking at this matter. Woodies is part of our neighborhood and we wouldn't want to feel that way in one of our neighborhood bar. Thanks.
I always like the food here at Woodies that's why this is one of my go to place for ordering around closer to where we live, or we're tired from our walks and love to relax and have a delicious food before walking back home, this was our place to dine. Woodies also is one of a good Sports bar around this area. Yesterday, we sat by the bar my husband ordered a beer, I ordered some chicken wings to go, and for our dine in or food to eat there was the delicious burger and tacos. The buffalo wings arrived first in a to go container of course, and I ate some, saved some for home, couldn't wait, it's delicious! Then our tacos arrived in a to go container too but we ordered it for dine in, but no worries, we ate it too! It was really good! Then of course the burger for dine in! While we're enjoying our food and drinks, the small guy who handed our order to go was talking to the bartender in a different language and he was pointing at my husband and our direction, the bartender also looked at us, The small guy was not happy then afterwards they were smiling as if they were making fun of us. We'll, that's how we felt. My husband asked me if they were talking about him because they were pointing at his direction, I didn't want to escalate the situation so I told my husband to just ignore it but it made us really uncomfortable that we just decided to finished our food and drinks (didn't order the 2nd drink (choom) that we would like to try. On our way out, The smal guy and the bartender was hugging playful at each other that when I was beside them, one playfully pushed one towards my direction (but I wasn't hit,) I just felt really uncomfortable. I'm writing this because I loved this place, but that incident yesterday probably makes us not want to dine in here yet soon. I didn't change my 5 star overall rating because It would be unfair for the hardworking owner and manager, he was very nice to us and to all of the customers.
2 years ago review- They have an amazing food here! The Woodie's burger is a must try! It's juicy mouth watering burger. We had those delicious chickens too. I ordered the original flavor, garlic and cheese, and the sweet bourbon glaze!!! The ambiance was chill (kudos to the staff) they're good in managing the crowd. Glad there's table available when we stopped by around 9PM. We were...
Read moreA group of about 10 of us came to Woodie’s this past Saturday to watch the OSU vs. Penn State game. A couple of my buddies ordered the tall self serve beer tap for themselves. Another couple of guys ordered as well but they had a different tab. Well, I guess the bar was low on the self serve taps because when their tap appeared to be the lowest level compared to everyone else at the bar we had servers and bussers coming up to them asking if they would hurry up and finish so they could take it to another table. I am not even kidding 3 or 4 different people came up to them in 8 minutes to get them to rush and drink their beer. To the point where my friends had to verbally express they did not want to rush and one of the staff ignored them and physically took their glasses and filled them to the top in an effort to rush them. THIS HAPPENED TWICE where staff took their glasses and topped them off to the rim. Would a server cut up someone else’s steak so they could take their steak knife to another table? Would a bartender rush someone to finish a cocktail because they needed the glass for another patron? Would a server pour a hot bowl of soup down someone’s throat because they needed bowls for another table? I’d like to note they were drinking it at a normal pace already and it is not like they had it on the table for an hour. I have never seen anything like this in an establishment and it was very uncomfortable.. I’d also like to note I’m a 20 something super understanding chick in the hospitality industry who never writes negative reviews but the staff here crossed a line. You cannot force people to rush and finish their alcoholic beverages because someone at another table ordered a container that the...
Read moreI can't say enough about what a special place Woodie's is for Bengals games. I have been to Bengals bars all across the country, but nothing has come close to matching the energy and community I've experienced at Woodie's. From the fight songs (Hear that Bengal Growlin' and Who Dey chant) after every touchdown, to the pregame and halftime speeches, raffles, and everything in between, watching at Woodie's almost rivals being in the stadium itself.
What makes Woodie's particularly special is the way that Shawn and his incredible staff (Dottie, Liz, Taylor, Shelby, and countless others) go above and beyond to make the bar feel like a home away from home for every single person there. When I first brought my family from Cincinnati to a game, Shawn had the table decked out with welcome signs and Bengals gear, and made a point to introduce himself and get to know them as soon as we sat down. Just last week, another regular was celebrating an engagement, and Shawn went out and bought celebratory decorations for his usual table.
The atmosphere and community is more than enough, but as an added bonus, Woodie's also boasts some of the greatest wings I've ever had in my life (and definitely the greatest wings in Chicago!) along with other great, underrated brunch items.
Any Cincinnatians or Bengals fans in Chicago, or anyone in search of incredible wings, will easily find a home...
