Rocas was pretty good. There are a few Mexican Restaurants in Chillicothe I would say Rocas is average.
Salsa and chips were good. They also bring lime sour cream to the table. I tried it, but as someone who does not like sour cream I did not enjoy it. Other people who have eaten with me though have said it is good in their opinion.
One pet peeve of mine is that the salsa cups were community cups and everyone at the table had to dip into the same cup. Many Mexican restaurants provide a cup for everyone at the table and a community container of salsa that can be poured, which I find a much better experience.
I had ordered steak fajitas and received chicken. I didn't bother sending it back. I like chicken fajitas as well. The portion sizes at Rocas are quite a bit smaller than competing restaurants in Chillicothe. Instead of rice and beans it was rice only and the amount of fajita filling was a bit smaller than a lunch portion from other restaurants.
That said, the quality of the fajita filling was very good. The flavors that they were able to build into the meat were excellent and probably the best in Chillicothe. The tortillas served their purpose but we're not noteworthy.
Unfortunately the rice was the real let down here. One of my favorite things about eating at a Mexican restaurant is the rice and I would rate this rice the worst in Chillicothe. Very bland almost tasting like white rice. Visually it did look quite pale and unappetizing. At least it did include vegetables.
The service was good. Our waiter refilled our drinks promptly and I felt we were given appropriate levels of attention. We had soft drinks. They were not noteworthy but I do remember the sweet tea being decent.
I will probably go to Rocas again. Next time I will attempt to get a steak fajita again but this time with beans. Hopefully...
Read moreMy wife and I can’t say enough about how much we enjoy Rocas. The food has been awesome every time we go. The seafood has been great. The shrimp, scallops, fish and chicken with rice and vegetables have all been amazing and always perfectly cooked and seasoned. We have also had chefs special and burrito deluxe and they were terrific. We love the draft beer choices with multiple sizes even up to the large 32oz. We always have great service especially at the bar. Typically we have Lacy serve us at bar and she is great. She is so friendly and pleasant to be around and takes great care of us every time. Also the management team is to be commended. They always address us in some way or another making us feel welcome. Sometimes stopping and talking to us for a minute making sure all is good. The place is always very clean and everyone in there is always working very hard and seem very motivated. The waitresses I see are always smiling and also say hello and are very friendly also. If you haven’t tried Rocas it’s a must. Even if you don’t like Mexican food this is still the place to go for other food...
Read moreThis place is fantastic, it is much nicer than your typical Mexican restaurant. It has a very upscale type of feel without the upscale price. I have visited several times since they have opened, trying different dishes each time without disappointment. I don't remember the exact dish name but it was the first dish under the combination/mixed section. This was probably the best food I've ever had at a Mexican restaurant. It came with pork, chicken, steak and bacon wrapped shrimp on a bed of peppers and onions. The second plate had cilantro rice, corn/black beans and the typical lettuce/sour cream/guacamole with two flour tortillas. Everything about this meal, from the service to the food, was outstanding. If you want great atmosphere, fast friendly service and delicious Mexican dishes, this...
