We had expected to have a positive experience when checking in with a most pleasant representative. We asked about parking our trailer and I understood from the conversation that there was PLENTY of parking available for us to have the truck close to the building. It is in the notes for our reservation that my husband is recovering from open heart surgery. We arrived on Friday and parked our truck and trailer along an outside row of parking places. There were multiple spaces along the sidewalk by the building. In the middle of the night, someone was banging on the window of the room next door to us--it sounded like someone was trying to break into our room. I expressed our concern and displeasure to the front office on Sat. morning as we were leaving for the day. NOTHING was said about where we were parked or that it was a problem. We returned from our all day event, and parked in the EXACT same spot as the day before. I went to bed at 7 pm and was jarred out of my sleep by the phone ringing. I could not bring myself to get up to answer it as I thought my husband would answer it. Around 9 pm the phone rang again-waking me up AGAIN- with the front desk telling my husband he had to go move our truck as it was "against the policy" of the hotel for the truck to be parked there. He was in his pj's, it was pouring the rain and he said he was not going out at that time of night to move it since it had not been a problem the night before. There were over 8 parking places at the sidewalk right next to the building. When I expressed my displeasure on checking out, I was told it was the fire department that said we were to move the truck. She also indicated that the day clerk instructed the evening clerk to reach out to us. NO ONE bothered to contact us at a reasonable time to discuss this. I was also told that the evening clerk had made notes in our file. I told her had we been told on checking in we could not park there, we would not have. I told her had someone told us as we returned on Sat. evening that we could not park there we wouldn't have. It seems to us that the problem was not really our truck but another truck and multiple passenger van that also parked there. We do plan to return to the area but will certainly look for another place to stay if this is the way we...
Read moreThe room was fine, the breakfast was fine as well, however we had situation arise with the parking of our vehicle and very rude staff regarding same. My wife explained when we booked the room that I had recently suffered a major heart attack requiring open heart, now post 6 months. This information was in our reservation information as well. We were pulling our 5x8 trailer, there were terrible storms taking place and so we asked if there was parking close to the entrance we could use so I could get into hotel without me having to walk a long distance in pouring rain and where we could an eye on the truck and trailer because of the items we were hauling. The first person at the desk was very accommodating to our request and said there was plenty of parking right outside, close to the front we could use, so we did no issue the first night. Besides there were no empty spaces in back due to other trucks and trailers and Semi tractors being parked there. The second night was a totally different story with phones front the front desk telling me I was in violation their policy, the fire department was saying something about it and that I needed to move and that if there were no spaces out back I should go park in another hotel parking lot that was out back. This all at 9:00 p.m. in the pouring rain. Another pickup and trailer had pulled in behind my vehicle and parked, which did not move,a van had parked behind him, which did not move, and there were 8 empty spaces outside of our room window that were never used the entire night. Nobody moved. We were certainly chided, bordering on being threatened, for doing what we were told we could do when we arrived. What changed from night 1 to night 2, certainly not the weather nor my health issue? And by the way, How was my "parking pass" going to work on some other...
Read moreThe maid service this morning was one of the loudest I've experienced. I don't know what gets into people's heads today that tells them that they need to make this much noise! I had a Do Not Disturb sign up, but it was like they were trying to run people out. I can understand that, but I was staying over, not checking out. Nor did I need my room cleaned having it been my first night. Being in between two rooms with noisy families compounded the issue.
I'm a night owl (I sleep clear through the morning.) which I know is uncommon, but usually I sleep through anything with no problem. We basically lived here one summer back in the early 90's when it was the Rodeway Inn, waiting for our new house to be built. If we had acted like this housekeeping staff and these families, we would have been thrown out immediately. A sign of the times.... I did get my room changed. I hated to ask for that. It's the very first time I've ever made that request. The new room is much quieter though so I'm thankful. It isn't the hotel's fault what guests do, but I really wanted to knock on the door of that one family and ask them what they think I should do. The desk attendant didn't seem concerned, but it fully sounded like they were breaking furniture in that room. There has to be some breaking point (no pun intended) even with the downward spiral that humanity is on. I found my other earplug (usually one suffices!) so hopefully even with the raucous maids, I can do better on sleep tonight/tomorrow~
ETA: They've been trying to get in touch with me to talk about my review. I'll talk to them, but I really have no more to say. I did get a lot better sleep the next night. It was a lot quieter in the new room, and the maid service...
