When I first moved to Chippewa over a year ago, I went here often. Over the last several months I have not been going as much because it seems every time I'm there I get frustrated with multiple things. First, there seems to be no sense of urgency and the staff has gotten less and less hospitable and friendly. I would like to highlight one woman who works there, she's blonde, and she ALWAYS gives the best service and drinks. She is an asset! For example, this morning I went in, I was the first one there right at 6:30am. When I walked in there were over 4+ staff members there. All saw me. The only one who said good morning to me was the blonde, and she was even going downstairs to put her personal belongings away as she just arrived for her shift. I go up to the cash register, waited for someone to come help me (which was frustrating since there were several employees just standing there. Finally, someone came up, doesn't say hi. Looks at me for my order. I had to repeat it 3x. Then, even though I was the first one in there, it took over 5 minutes to make my drink. It's frustrating when you can see how slow they are working, like they don't care. Anyone with common sense should know in the morning people are in a hurry...but again, absolutely no haste.
Another thing that's frustrating is that they NEVER have Wifi....so if you go there to work you have to use your own data/hotspot.
I do love the food and drinks here, but for the service and inconveniences I get, it's not worth the price. Especially for someone like me who is DF and GF - there aren't options for me that aren't highly marked up...which I'm used to, but I think with their limited options and lack of good service, I am not motivated to come in. Maybe every couple of months. I hope they turn things around. There are a lot of great qualities that they have and if they tighten up they could...
Read moreFirst time here. I was in Chippewa Falls to see some family and found this place right next to the Chophouse where we had dinner the night before. It's a nice spot, with a large windowed storefront and inviting signage. Inside is a large open area with the order counter toward the rear. An old brick wall, metal lighting fixtures, and a tin ceiling give it a vintage vibe. There are café tables with metal chairs for small groups. The noise level is reasonable, and it’s easy to have a conversation.
They have an extensive coffee menu, including tea lattes. But the one thing that really stood out was the bakery selection. They have items called Cornetto, which look like croissants. I was told they’re similar and used in similar ways (fillings, glazes, etc.). We ended up getting a coffee, a London Fog Tea Latte (little lavender, little vanilla, extra foam), a Custard Danish, and an Apple Almond Scone.
It didn’t take long to get our order, and everything was amazingly good. The London Fog was made with loose-leaf tea and steeped well. The pastries were fresh, large, and very yummy. Everything was also very reasonably priced (you spend way more than this in most places — and that’s not something I usually fixate on).
Excellent experience. Friendly service, excellent food and drinks, great value, and a warm atmosphere. If I could make one suggestion, it would be the metal chairs — I just didn’t find them very comfortable.
Definitely on the "come...
Read moreThe Good: Their crepes are amazing! I haven’t had much from their menu, but what I’ve had has been delicious. The staff is always very friendly.
The Bad: They stop serving breakfast at 10:45. That wouldn’t be so bad if their Facebook page didn’t show breakfast going until 11:00.
The Ugly: My wife and I showed up at 10:40. There was a line. At 10:43, the girl taking orders informed the ordering customer that they were no longer doing breakfast. If a restaurant says it serves breakfast until 10:45, it needs to serve breakfast until 10:45. There were other people in line waiting for breakfast; I don’t think my wife and I were the only ones to walk out. I understand that we were there only five minutes before they stopped breakfast, but the lady at the front of the line was there long before us. To turn people away that have been waiting in line 15+ minutes, even though they arrived in time, and even though it was not yet 10:45, is not just rude (albeit, politely rude), it’s unethical and...
