Krispy Kreme — Restaurant in Chula Vista

I haven't been in this store in a while, but I believe the quality has gone down since the pandemic. I ordered an assorted dozen and had to pick and choose from pictures. They didn't even have the original kreme filled glaze donut available and it was only 8:30 a.m.! Although only two customers were allowed in the store at one time, it was loud because the person taking the orders had to verbally tell the workers behind the counter what the order was. And the workers behind the counter tried to take orders from customers as well, which resulted in multiple people raising their voices just to be heard. What was most disappointing was when I finally opened the box and see the sizes of the donuts were significantly smaller than what they used to be. My father, who hasn't had krispy kreme donuts in YEARS, just opened the box and commented on how small they are. Not to mention, my order was wrong (probably because the workers couldn't hear) and you can see from the picture that some of the donuts were just tossed in the box. Granted, the pandemic has affected many businesses. I appreciate the safety precautions they've taken to assure everyone's health and safety, but if i'm paying the same price for a box of donuts that I did prior to the pandemic, I expect the same...

I was really disappointed to find out about Krispy Kreme high prices. I came into this location to buy a half dozen doughnuts, just the simple glazed ones nothing fancy. When I asked how much it would cost, I was told $16.00 dollars. This is too much money for just six simple doughnuts. I declined the order and drove to another doughnut place near our house that is a competitor to KK. I ordered half a dozen assorted doughnuts (not only glazed) and was charged $9.00 dollars. This is more in line to what I was expecting to pay for a product of similar quality when compared to KK. I refuse to pay super high prices at any business no matter what they sell and paying almost double the price at Krispy Kreme is not acceptable.

I understand that everything is expensive out there but if this other doughnut place can keep their prices down for a product that is similar to KK then maybe, just maybe KK can do it too.

This Krispy Kreme's service was on point. And the donuts, ofcourse, have not disappointed. But one item that I wanted to highlight was their service. The story: My son and I went for donut day to get the free donut offer. There was a line when we arrived but the service was really quick. One of my reasons for the 4 star was there selection was between 2 donut types, but they were still delicious. But we also went around 4pm so I don't know if that factor played into the selection. The following Friday we went for pizza next door and decided, why not satisfy that craving again so we bought 2 donuts & my son bought a coffee latte. Both were great, but as we were waiting for the coffee one of the Krispy team members have is a donut for free as part of another promotion that I totally forgot about. Who doesn't like free.
