Urbane Cafe — Restaurant in Chula Vista

Tonight was our first time here. We’ve been curious about their menu. Upon walking in, I felt the bright, warm ambiance that felt so welcoming.

We wanted the ban mi sandwich, but they ran out of bread. So, we tried the seared ahi tuna bowl and the salmon bowl. My tuna bowl was delicious with lotsa healthy items in it, kale, radish and cucumber slices, cherry tomatoes, and edimame (soy beans). The six slices of ahi sat of a fluffy bed or brown rice, drizzled with teriyaki sauce. Loved it.

Hannah, the shift leader was very pleasant and very nice to us.

Tonight, we had the UC Bank Mi bbq chicken and Salmon salad. Washed it down with Strawberry Agua Fresca. The Banh Mi had a similar flavoring to the original Vietnamese Banh Mi, just not as thick and tight. My wife enjoyed her Salmon salad. 12-15-24 I love the grilled Salmon Salad. The Chipotle Ranch Dressing goes really well with this healthy salad. The gentleman who helped us saved us from the faulty self-serve order kiosk. 1-15-25 Awesome service. Warm greeting. The staff here is always welcoming, friendly and accommodating. Today, we enjoyed the Californian Sandwich, the BBQ Tri-Tip Sandwich, and the Roasted Red Pepper Gouda Soup. The Californian has tons of artichokes with cheese, lettuce and mayo. Yummy! Wife enjoyed the Tri-tip. 9-7-25

I have visited a few of these locations and although this is one of the newer restaurants every-time I come here they give me a hard time to replace salmon with chicken (even if I’m willing to pay the difference). The other locations do it without any issue. For the cost of the sandwich this should not be an hassle each time I come in. If the food wasn’t quality I would cease coming to this location, but it’s the closest to my home. Elizabeth D helped me today and was very kind. Although the manager on schedule (Mara-maybe) tonight was not really willing to add salmon to my sandwich I would still recommend this location. All other employees provided the service I’m used...

Great food, amazing menu. Clean and presentable space, and helpful staff. My family and I were hungry late night (after 9p) and thankfully Urbane cafe was open and taking orders! The menu items all looked amazing and tasted just as good. The kids had soup: tomato and the enchilada soup (I dont remember the complete name for this one), I had the bahn mi with chicken (sooo good). We also ordered the ahi tuna salad and the pesto and sun dried tomato. All items were delicious and fresh. Oh!! And I had an amazing warm chocolate chip cookie....
