Had lunch here while it was raining outside. Didn’t expect much as this was one of the Chili places first opened in Cincinnati back then - so here we were trying the Greek-style Chili.
If you dine in, you can find your seats by yourself and the staff will come with the crackers and two small bowls for you to pour the crackers and ask what drinks and food would you like to order. But it was a bit different for us since it was our first time here, so we asked for the menu because we had no idea what to order (not like the others as we believe they have known the regulars) while ordering drinks – I thought they would give us the menu first then serve the drinks while we could order the food so the buffering time won't take too long as the waiting time for the drinks can be our chance to study the menu since it shouldn't take a long time with a compact list of menu. Nonetheless, the staffs and service were super great since they are very attentive and had quick responses also they made the best time to clean up the mess both on the tables and floor which was great so the place won't look so messy as people come and go in the short amount of time.
Food-wise, I got the 3-way so it's the spaghetti, chili, and cheese while my friend got the 4-way with an additional onion. There is also the 5-way where you can get both onion and beans – you can choose either one when you order 4-way. Also, they have three sizes of small, regular, and large. It was so delicious??! The meal was the highlight of my day and the chili has a super authentic flavor as I could sense some herbs/spices.. maybe cumin included in it if I'm not mistaken. Overall, the food was great and I could say it was one of the comfort food that we might have in our lives and that is why people love it!! Super recommended when you're around in...
Read moreLet me first say that I love Skyline. I try to get here at least 2 days a week. I have even been twice in the same day a few times. I also go to different locations all the time. My problem and it is specifically with this location is with the drive thru. Every time I go through the drive thru it is like pulling teeth to get crackers. What is more insulting is now they have a sign on the window stating one "Complimentary" pack of crackers per 3way, salad or two coneys. Any additional packs of crackers cost $0.50! Who in the world can eat a 3way with only one pack of crackers?!? Can you imagine going to McDonalds and getting one pack of ketchup for a large fries? So last night I asked for extra crackers for my order which contained 3 meals, the girl handed me 1 pack of crackers. I told her this is ridiculous that one extra pack for 3 meals is no where near enough. I told her I was will to pay but know that this rule is terrible customer service. She said in a snarky tone "Sorry sir I don't make the rules" and she shut the window on me. Then she came back with three more packs of crackers. This is not the first time I had problems with this Skyline's drive through. I would stop coming to this location but the Norwood one closes at 8pm and I am usually going at 8:15. Oakley location, if crackers are such a high commodity an you are loosing profit because you are giving away too many crackers, please increase the cost of food by $0.50 and give unlimited crackers. This shouldn't be this difficult to...
Read moreThis is a sequel review, we can consider it, "Skyline 2: Return to Skyline!"
Much like my last review, this is a warm, glowing, golden, ooey-gooey gush of a love letter to the simple magnificence that is the Skyline Coney.
Sure, it's only 4.5 inches long, but since when has that ever stopped us? We had a table of 4, where 3 orders were only coneys... FOURTEEN Corey's!
Now I know what you might be thinking; "Kirk, that's just a mountainous plate of inely shredded, glorious, melt in your mouth cheese."
You aren't wrong, but let's go deeper, let's dive under the copious and opulent levels of cheesy accoutrement and we hit the star, the Skyline Chili.
Poured onto a simple but tasty hot dog and yeasty bun, this piping hot brown and red meat sauce sets the stage for an epicurean explosion in every bite. It keeps the steam of the dog and the bun trapped under it, and the cheese perfectly melted on top of it.
Perfectly soft bites that warm the body, mind, and soul. It's comfort food served up 5 at a time, having a bad day, get a couple more! This isn't about healthy eating, no-no, this is about delicious food that makes you smile!
So, what could be better? Glad you asked.
A solid dose of table.top hot sauce is the coup de Gras that crowns the Skyline Coney a true King of the Queen City!
For my detailed oriented friends who are stuck on what person #4 ordered, why that was the infamous "3-Way," that noodly masterpiece will have to wait for another day!
Happy travels, and enjoy your trip...
