Today 10/4/2023 about 4:20 p.m. I went to BJ's to purchase two items....a bag of greens and onions. BJ's had two fully displayed 3lbs onions side by side. On the left the regular onions were displayed $2.39 and the organic onions were displayed $2.59 on the right. These signs were on the edge of the display table front lip. I took the bag of greens and the organic onions to the self checkout. The onions scanned $3.99. I explained to the associate David the item is marked $2.59. He proceeded to the produce area. I glanced over and I see him having a conversation with the produce associate. I did not get the name of the produce associate. He is a tall young Afro-American. I could not figure out why it took David so long to check the price. David comes back with a cell phone picture showing the organic onions with a $3.99 display sign. I went over and immediately see a $3.99 sign that was NEVER PRESENT now magically appears. To my surprise the produce associate cleverly rearranged the display to correct his error. He put all of the bulk organic onions in a shopping cart with some regular onions to the side. He set the stage to make it appear that a new display was going up with "new" prices. I asked David what happened to the $2.59 price tag? I said will you honor the price for $2.59? He said the price is $3.99 here is the picture. He just shrugged his shoulders. David approach John---the lead I am assuming--- to brief my concern. Instead of being a solution John was only a problem. He did not want to engage. He said I am just catching the tail end of this. He offered no solutions. I approached the produce associate upfront and asked him where is the sign for $2.59 for the organic onions? I told him you are not right. I did not raise my voice even though I was in disbelief. He and David just snickered as if this was some sort of cat and mouse play. I did not appreciate their lack nor interest for customer support. I went back and settled for the $2.39 bag of regular onions...not what I wanted. As I was leaving John the lead once again did not interject or do the right thing. I am a Costco and BJ's member and Costco honors wrong priced items with a smile. John the lead did not step up to the plate. I am sure the manager expects the leads to give the best possible customer service. A well run store operates when a manager is off duty. I have been a BJ's member for years and this is the first time BJ's associates did not follow BJ's cultural values and...
Read moreI haven’t been shopping at BJ’s as much as before because no matter the location, the employees act like they hate life and their jobs and take it out on customers. This one wasn’t any different.
I went there to return 3 unopened items. I didn’t have the physical receipt, as one item was an online order, however I didn’t think it would be a big deal seeing as though I can see a record of all purchases through the app. The person behind the desk immediately had an attitude and said this will take me at least 15 minutes to look up. My response was okkaaayy??? I looked up the orders and had the order numbers and dates. What’s the problem? Anyway, after giving her the date and order number it did not take 15 minutes. I’m not sure if she expected me to walk back out with the items I didn’t want in the first place with her exaggerated timeline, but whatever. The next 2 items were purchased in store and again, I was able to provide her all the information she needed from the app so that she could look it up in her system. She couldn’t figure it out and had to call a supervisor. He was very kind and explained the confusion to me and answered my questions. I was able to get my returns done and did not take 15 minutes to look for an order because the app provided all the information needed. I didn’t appreciate that kind of attitude from customer service, especially on my first visit to this store.
This store was well stocked and I was able to find everything I needed. Something that has been difficult to find at other wholesale and department stores is feminine products. It’s been hit or miss at places I’ve been to lately in FL and VA. I appreciated that this location was well stocked and had a variety of brands and products.
This location has a tire center, but no gas station.
The fact that I have to drive an hour to get to a BJ’s location and customer service is so rude is reason enough to keep this BJ’s in my last resort list. I’d rather not spend my money at...
Read moreIt just gets worse and worse. Went to return a lamp but didn't have my receipt. They normally just pull it up by the credit card used and credit it back to the card. Well this elderly lady who turned out to be the manager said they can only give store credit. I stated but they credited back to my card before. She rudley said that's how we do it,. She then proceeds to checks out the lamp I was returning then gets a girl named Jennifer H. to finish the return. She then said Jennifer will credit it back to your card. Not sure how a return policy just changed in minutes. It's like she chooses a policy based on how she feels about you (like profiling). But it got worse. Jennifer shows me a receipt and says I paid 34.99 for it and there was a 5.00 discount so I will be getting back 29.99. I said no, it was 39.99 and the 5.00 discount made it 34.99. She said no that's not how the system works. Long story short I went to take a pic. of the pricing and when I came back another manager added the total of the charges and stated I was correct. Well Jennifer was even more rude after that. Never apologized and never looked or spoke to me after that. I didn't say anything so she could save face. After giving me my return receipt I said thank you with absolutely no response from her. She acted like I was the one the did something to her when it was her incompetence that made the situation what it was. Not knowing the system is one thing but short changing the customer is liable. I'm not expecting world class service at BJs but the level of inconsistancy, rudenss and incompetence is unacceptable. I'm not one to cry racism but that's what it felt like coming from these two white women. I will be...
