Last night I had my birthday party at Samurai Blue. Before the party, my parents and I had called and spoke with the manager, John. John told us we could have 18 people in the private room. I had originally had 18 people respond yes, but only 15 ended up showing up. Sarah, the manager came into the private room, and told me we could only have 14 people in the room, and that the one remaining person could sit at a booth alone. She then tried to claim that my mother and I were both informed that only 14 people could go into this room and that she spoke with us on the phone. We had never spoke to on the phone because she was on vacation the week before. She then told us she had a manager meeting and they decided only 14 could be in the room, but we were never informed of this before we arrived. During all of this, she was patronizing me, and basically made me cry on my 18th birthday. She came in and was extremely rude to me, and my guests, and was not willing to accommodate us at all. She said she could sit the one remaining guest outside at a booth alone, which she then took back that offer. I can guarantee from the way she treated me that I will never give samurai blue my business ever again, and if you are reading this I suggest you don’t use there private room as well. There food isn’t even that good, Osaka down the street is much better, and Osaka has much better customer service. Along with not just me, but all my guests and I can also guarantee will never suggest this place to anyone. I am extremely disappointed in the way I was treated especially since my total ended up being over 800 dollars last night. Our servers name was Marissa, and she was amazing and honestly deserves a raise. For the managers, you guys need to get it together because not only was I belittled but I was also lied too, and my service would not have been brought here if I had known the stipulations behind it, especially regarding the way you guys treated me. Was seated and given the menu I enquired as to some of the sushi options waiter told us she was new and it was her second week has no idea as per the food couldn’t answer any of my questions. Ordering blindly and hoping for the best we placed our orders.. When we entered the restaurant around 8pm it wasn’t busy 45mins later we are waiting.. no waiter came to check we required a drinks refill When I pulled the waiter she didn’t even realise we was still waiting for our food (4 sushi rolls….) she went to ask… another 15 mins later that’s an hour wait she never came back to us so after somewhat avoiding our table I pulled her yet again she said I asked the chef and they never gave me an update verbatim “I just don’t know. I’ve no idea where it is” by this point I was beyond frustrated went to the host stand and asked for the manager she says she’s busy.. the hostess told me this was her first day…what has any of this got to to with my zero service and no food?!
She passed on the message to the manager another 15 minutes passed of-course no manager! Service was absolutely shocking when she finally came over it was all “I’m working the Uber pick ups, I’m busy” customer service is important your general conduct on how to manage complaints is also important you get paid to do the job you do if it’s too busy and your understaffed this is your problem to manage so this does destroy your patrons dining experience to this degree and dent your reputation! Read moreLast night's dinner was unapologetically pathetic. Wanting to try a new sushi place we gave it a go having passed this place so many times. We should've checked the latest reviews before going. Waited over 10 minutes to be greeted by our waiter who gave us no apologies for his lateness but we were ready with our order for food and drinks. 15 mins more we got water. Another 15 minutes goes by to finally get our drinks!! Really?!? By now 2 other couples left the restaurant. We wanted to leave by now as well. We then notice the table next to us got their food before us, after having been sat long after us. Finally, our ahi tuna tataki appetizer and ramen show up AND so does our sad looking sushi entrees. WOW! Presentation and service needs load of help here. He starts to serve my husband's food first. Etiquette?!? His ramen is flat cold. Waiter took it back and returned cold again. Sushi lacked presentation and no side plates to eat them with. Waiter got the manager after hearing our complaints. We mention to her that the only good thing tonight has been our drinks. LOL, well she took pride in those bc she made them. She told us the waiter is new and is probably not able to handle 4 tables yet. Ya think he's ready on a busy Saturday night?!?, dang.
