I just don't know... maybe it was an off night for them but we were just swinging through town and needed to feed the family at dinner time and just had a craving for some good ol diner food. Place was packed so the locals must know something we don't, they did their best to seat us quickly but it still took a few, they were very nice about it and apologetic. Once seated it was at least 20 minutes before we were even asked what drinks we'd like, drinks came and took another 20 minutes-ish for them to take our orders. We got in at about ten to 5 and by 6:40 our food was finally brought to us. Was NOT IMPRESSED. I odes the steak and eggs medium well, was lucky if it was medium. Was the toughest most grisly piece of meat I've ever had at a restaurant. The home fries were burnt and disgusting, i love them browned but these were just straight up black, and to top that off they were old and stale and just not good. She got the chicken souvlaki wrap with home fries and the same thing, burnt stale home fries with a funky seasoning, wrap was ok. My little one who is not a picky eater at all, didn't touch her chicken fingers and French fries... maybe they were just overwhelmed by we couldn't even get anyone's attention to send anything back. Wound up paying $60 and boxed the food up and gave it to someone down the street who looked hungry and then hit a drive thru. I pad through Batavia frequently and always looking for a place for dinner but I'm not sure I could give another chance here, such a huge waste of money but I at least hope the man on the...
Read moreIf I could give this place zero stars I would. I have a disability that makes me intolerant to many foods and I cannot eat out due to the cross contamination, however, I went with four friends who were ordering food and wanted to eat out so I brought a salad I made at home for myself to eat. We ordered drinks as a group and I let my waitress know their restaurant couldn’t accommodate my disability and eating needs so I brought a salad from Home to eat while my friends ate. She said the manager really doesn’t approve of outside food but she would ask. I have had this disability for 18 years mind you and never have I been not allowed to eat my own food at a restaurant. She came back and told me the manager would not allow me to eat my own food so my group left the resturaunt. I left and cried from the embarrassment and being outcasted. That was discrimination against me, my disability, and my eating needs. This event has made me uncomfortable with my disability and embarrassed to go out again. Thankfully, we went to another near by resturaunt after and they happily accommodated me and...
Read moreI tried The Sport of Kings restaurant in Batavia for dinner tonight. What a find!! I ordered their steak and eggs with home fries covered in sauteed peppers and onions. The steak was cooked precisely as ordered. Not over or undercooked. It was juicy, tender, and oh so flavorful. The eggs were over easy, but eggs are easier to cook than steak.
Our waitress was so nice, friendly, and congenial that I wanted to adopt her as a sister. She must have checked back with us half a dozen times and refilled my coffee at least four times (you really can't have too much coffee, can you!?).
After four cups of coffee and several glasses of water, it seemed like a good idea to check out "the facilities". I went from this comfortably lit dining area into this gleaming bright almost surgical area. The bathroom was so clean and bright I had to blink a few times to get used to it. If the " can" was that well taken care of, it gives me confidence that the kitchen is too. Very nice.
I can highly recommend The Sport of Kings to anyone neat the...
