We came for our first time today! It absolutely will not be the last.
My son has said it quite possibly is the best food he has ever had.
My son is 15 and I have taken him to quite a variety of different cuisines. Two of his all time favorites are Indian and Middle Eastern. But today, he said the chef, changed his mind. He could tell the love, attention to detail, and the skill it took that prepare this delightful dish. I laughed almost through our entire meal. My son was literally in awe of the culinary genius. Bite after bite, he was totally mesmerized by the flavor. “The rice is flavorful, the beans, the outside and the inside of the chicken! Mom, how did he get flavor on the inside of the chicken?”
We asked if it was possible to speak to the chef. My son was so blessed to be able to give the chef his personal compliments.
My son, generally does not like eating chicken off the bone. But the Jerk Chicken Dinner, he at every single piece of edible food from his plate. He also ate a full order of plantains.
We live over an 1 1/2 hours away, but that won’t prevent us from returning. We will be back.
I also had the Ox Tale which was the first time I have ever tried Ox Tale. To say it was delicious, is an understatement. It was phenomenally seasoned, cooked to perfection, fell literally off the bone, and was so spectacular, that I will be trying other places just to get an adequate understanding of how amazing this culinary masterpiece was.
The Chef has literally cooked around the world. He has a love for cooking that is a gift from GOD, developed over a lifetime, passed down for generstions.
Genuinely, try this place out before one of the Viral Food Critics do. Right now, the wait time was short. We would wait an hour or more for this restaurant if the lines were long (but they were not).
We are so grateful we found this gem.
Oh, the Carrot Cake, was some of the best I have ever had.
During the weekend, they have a shortened menu, so we will be back during the week so we can try additional items.
10 out of 10 for us. Extremely, Highly Recommended.

Read moreTried this place for the first time with my girlfriend and her mom for lunch. We wanted to go the day before, but they are closed on Wednesdays. They have a small parking lot, but we were the only people there at the time so it worked out. We were seated as soon as we entered. The booth seats and table were a bit snuggly, but we were able to move and adjust them. The atmosphere was cool and they played good music. Bathroom was really clean. The waitress was very polite and knowledgeable about the menu. She waited patiently for us to review the menu. We ordered ginger beer, Ting and water with lemons for drinks. We choose to try the Jerk Fries as our appetizer. They were okay, a bit basic. The sauce was sweet and the Parmesan cheese flavor was very present. I ordered the Roasted Chicken with red beans and rice and cabbage. The rice was a bit gummy and didn’t have a flavor or season to it. The cabbage (best item) was really good, seasoned well and just barely crunchy (I liked). The chicken was served with a sauce that was sweet, I was expecting some spice, thinking that it was jerk sauce. I also was expecting the chicken to be more of a dry roasting, but it was a wet saucer texture. My girlfriend had the Jamaican Oxtails, they were a nice size, minimal fat, good flavor and taste. Her rice was gummy and not flavored as well, but she liked the cabbage also. Her mom had the Escovitch (red snapper) Fish. She liked it a lot. I tried a piece of hers and I really liked it myself, tasted really good and seasoned with good flavor spices, you could order it whole (eyes, mouth and tail) or fillets. Overall, I was expecting more spice than sweet with the sauces, nothing we ordered had a kick to it. The rice and beans were underwhelming too, I had high expectations for it, coming from Chicago where most jerk restaurants have that spice and present flavors. Nothing really stood out other than the cabbage, which was the highlight. I would definitely try this place again and go with something completing different, like the Rasta Pasta or Pan...
Read moreThis review is not spam* I was really excited to try this place. After living in Chicago for 16 years, I know authentic Jamaican food when I have it. This place fell really shorty from my expectations sadly.
I ordered the chicken stew which is a traditional Jamaican dish that is exactly what it’s called, a stew. When my food came out, it was not chicken stew and I honestly thought I ordered the wrong thing.
I was served pieces of chicken with sauce poured over the top-not stew at all.
When our server came back, I told her that I received the wrong item and that I meant to get the chicken stew. I explained what I wanted, the traditional chicken stew and she replied “most people think it’s that, but it’s not.”
I was super disappointed that she didn’t explain that to me when I ordered. If people commonly order the wrong item, the server should explain that. I was also a server while living in Chicago.
It was frustrating but I was so hungry that I didn’t return it for something else. The food was good but it was not authentic Jamaican. It had no spice, at all- and the sauce tasted more like bbq than jerk.
I can tell that the restaurant is catering to the locals instead of being true to the Jamaican culture. Understandably, but if you want real Jamaican, this is not the spot.
The service was forgetful and lacking over all. The chef didn’t come and talk to us even though we clearly had an issue at our table. I say this to say, I will not be returning which is disappointing because I truly love REAL Jamaican food.
**this is not a spam review. I updated my review, and it updated the date. I never deleted anything. My initial visit was in July and I updated today. There would be no reason for me to spam this page. Just warning people that it’s not authentic. You have no record of my visits because like I put in my review, the cook didn’t come talk to us even though we had an issue. Lol I’m spam. No just an...
