I have no idea where to start. Maybe it should be with the insulting e-mail I received from the regional manager 2 months prior to the trip, or the extortion that occurred when we arrived at the hotel or the pubic hair that was in the shower. This hotel was by far the worst Marriott experience that I have ever had and being a gold member of the Marriott rewards program I have stayed at my fair share of Marriott hotels. Typically, I would not have stayed at the hotel after receiving a rude e-mail from the disgruntled regional manager, but my friends were getting married at Frankenmuth brewery so the location of the hotel was more than ideal. The group discount rate that we booked the hotel with was too good of a deal that the manager refused to honor it, even after the hotel was booked. The manager failed to change the rate on the reservation, after doing some research it appeared that the rate would change from $89/night to $115/night, but this was never confirmed by the regional manager Mandy nor was the reservation rate ever changed. When we arrived to the hotel they informed us that the rate would be $190 a night only after we asked for the king bed room to be changed to two queen beds. As I’m sure anyone would be we were quite upset because we would have cancelled the overpriced room. This is the definition of extortion given that we were lead to believe a cheaper rate and when we got to the hotel we were left with no choice but to pay a significantly higher rate. The Marriott corporation supported the hotel in the extortion of several of the guests of the wedding. To make matters worse the hotel was outdated, our shower had pubic hairs left in it from previous guests, the hotel rooms smelled musty and the hallways were dingy at best. It makes me completely reconsider my loyalty...
Read moreBeing Marriott Bonvoy members, we have come to rely on and expect a certain consistency and quality in cleanliness, so we chose this Fairfield Inn & Suites for our 6 night stay in Frankenmuth. Granted this is clearly an older structure, everything inside seemed very dated upon arrival. Dated is something we can overlook. The location of the elevator (sigular) was unusual- down a very narrow hallway, making it difficult to navigate with luggage and kids in tow. The elevator itself was small, and our family of 4 barely fit with our luggage- still things we can overlook. We walked into our room, road-weary, and within 5 minutes 2 of us were sneezing and having allergy symptoms. Going to check the air unit under the window, the glass of one window was completely clouded over (wish I'd taken a photo), and I looked at the edges around the window to see black specks of mildew/mold (I believe it was mold). We pulled out the air filters from the window unit, and they were caked up and clearly had not been maintained anytime recently. The entire room smelled musty, and our allergies were in overdrive. At this point we decided we could not justify 6 nights in this particular location. The staff person at the desk was gracious and apologetic. I appreciated being able to cancel at this point with no hassles. At the bare minimum, the air units need to be maintained and humidity levels managed better. Ideally, the windows need replacing, and if they could update the decor it would go a long way on improving things. The location is pretty good and makes exploring Frankenmuth on foot...
Read moreWe booked this hotel with a group of friends, as it was listed as one of the ones for the 80’s fest we were going to. We arrived at 4pm to rooms that were still being cleaned. We were getting dressed in our individual rooms for the event and when we came downstairs the rude girl at the desk said she had gotten multiple complaints about the noise from all of our rooms and if she received 2 more we would be kicked out. We were more than surprised as we were in our separate rooms getting dressed, not partying and there were several others at hotel for this event. I said are you sure it was us? She said yes, you were all described. What?!? I told her that was unfair and if someone complained they should have come up to check it out and not just take their word for it. She continued to get ruder as I told her we were adults, gold members, and respectful and do not act that was at hotels. Apparently there was an older woman on our floor went to see whose rooms were cracked up and wrote down all of them and complained. It was 6 o’clock in the afternoon. We were getting ready for an event and in lobby waiting for a shuttle. If there are 24/7 quiet hours it should be posted, if your walls are so paper thin people can’t even talk in their rooms post that, if you don’t want groups post that as well or let other guests know when you have group events. This was the worst treatment I have experienced from a hotel, ever!! And we have all traveled as a group before with our kids. Our kids weren’t even with us and we were treated like the worst hotel guests and were nothing...
