I like to call Vito’s Ristorante and Pizzeria “home” for several reasons. The food, hospitality and service make you feel like you are sitting in your own dining room.
We’ve been coming to Vito’s for years now and the food is always fresh, delicious and creative. Angela shares her recipes from her hometown in Sicily and we always look forward to something new on the daily special menu. The prices are great for the amount of food you get…there’s always plenty and I take home my leftovers for another meal.
My favorite is the Chicken Sorrentino with red sauce…moist, tender chicken with thin slices of eggplant and prosciutto. Most recently my husband ordered the Chicken Daniela over Broccoli Rabe with shrimp, thinly sliced fried potatoes with lemon wine sauce. All entrées are served with either pasta and your choice of sauce or salad. Order the salad with the house dressing…it is to die for and a secret recipe. I’ve tried to copy it but just can’t seem to get it right!
You can’t go wrong with ordering anything from the menu…seriously. The pizza is crispy and delicious. We especially like the Grandma pie with its thin, crispy crust. Owner Mario (married to Angela) really knows how to make a pizza and is definitely the best around. Their son Vito manages the restaurant and does a great job.
Vito’s is a real asset to Glen Cove and a stand out amongst all the other Italian restaurants and pizzerias. They won the 2019 Best of Long Island in 5 categories for Wings, Mussels, Spinach Pie & Sausage & Pepper Sandwich as well as Best Dinner Deal. Every Tuesday is pasta night and you’ll get your choice of five or six different pastas, soup or salad and dessert and coffee for $12. Get there early as tables fill up fast.
If you haven’t tried Vito’s, you don’t know what you’re missing…trust me. I look forward to returning there...
Read moreI can not believe how this place and gone down hill. We called for delivery last night at 602 pm and was told 30-35 mins, which is perfectly acceptable! At the 1 hour mark, I called to find out where my order was and a young girl answered the phone, she said she was going to find out. I heard her take 2 additional phone orders and help someone at the counter. I hung up and called back and she put me the phone down again and the 2 mins hung up on me. So I called again, we are now at the 1 hr and 15 min mark and man answers the phone and proceeds to lie to me and say the driver stopped short and they had to remake the pizza and then hangs up on me. If that was the case, you have my phone number, why wouldnt you call to tell me. And i completely under they could have been overwhelmed but communication is key! Pizza arrives at the 90 min mark. When I look at the receipt that was left on the box the time in was 607 and time out was 710 total of 63 mins. When we opened the box the pizza was completely wrong. I'm not sure what is happening with this place but seeing as there is a pizza place on every corner in GC, I will tell you I will never order from there again. Completely disappointed in their customer service and the way they speak/treat...
Read moreI'm rather surprised, I always recalled Vito’s with great fondness. The place to go for a slice and a coke. Perhaps certain locales are best experienced in person. Our delivery, sadly, was a lackluster experience.
It lacked items, both a drink and the paid addition of broccoli to a chick-parm roll... Though perhaps most aggregious, was the astoundingly subpar combination of overcooked, yet cold, and overly greasy.
The pizza all but oozes grease upon you, as if to resist your attempts at consumption... Fear not, its smell lingers on your skin long after. I'm not richer having experienced this meal, literally and metaphorically.
The roll was a torturous affair, the litteral skin of my mouth ravaged by the hardened carapace of dough. Perhaps it was the artist's intention to serve it with overly watery sauce, so as to achieve some sort of unholy symbiosis of dough and sauce. Clearly, not a match...
