Hazuki sushi — Restaurant in City of Glen Cove

First, I would like to start by saying that this restaurant NEVER disappoints in food, service or atmosphere. I have lived in Glen Cove and have been here numerous times with my family and have ordered take out there too. The owner and her family are extremely wonderful people, who get to know their customers personally and are always very attentive. Second, I would like to say that the food is always fresh and delicious. Lastly, this comment is geared toward another reviewer, Julie Panteleone. You wrote a review about the night you entered. First, you walked in with an air of entitlement and were greeted with prompt and quick attention and service. The young man cleaned the table you asked for and you stood in the place for no more than 5 minutes to make as many observations as you claim, before you rudely walked out after looking at your phone like you needed a red carpet rolled out for you. You also included my husband and I in your review, saying we looked bored out of our minds and I gave you a look like, "Don't do it!" You made a classic assumption before even knowing the facts. I was not bored. I was enjoying a meal with my husband and the fact that he was still alive because he had gotten into an accident earlier where he could have died. So stressed, yes, but bored ...NO. Another reason one should never make assumptions about how people feel or what they are thinking. You weren't even a thought in my mind. Not until I witnessed how rude you were to the staff. So, next time you write a review and you are able to make whatever statements you want, please consider the amount of hours these people work and provide service to make an honest living. Reviews like yours that didn't contain facts can ruin the livelihood of others who depend on what they do to take care of...

I walked in on a Saturday night around 7:30 pm. The place reeked of fish, which was the first turn off. My guest, the one who suggested the place, insisted it was normal for them. All the empty tables were filthy. The couple at the first table looked bored out of their minds like they had been waiting forever. I felt like the lady's eyes were screaming at us "DON'T DO IT!" The couple towards the back looked just as pleased. The workers were clearly busy with the take out orders, as they were running back and forth quite a lot. They acknowledged that my guest and I had arrived, at least. Then they send a gentleman over to offer to clean a table for us. He asks us which table to clean, I clearly point towards the middle one. The young man cleans a different table. Then I ask again for the table that we wanted, the one NOT jammed in the corner. He starts to clean my choice table. He throws the crumbs onto the bench where we are expected to sit, leaves the drink/soy sauce rings untouched, and half of the table still dry and schmeared with hand prints. He then looks up at us, and I am not lying here, looks straight at us and says, "That's good enough, right?" I get it: it was clearly a busy night. I've worked in restaurants and mom & pop dining joints all my life. Nothing like a busy Saturday with unexpectedly good weather and a whole lot of business that you are understaffed for. Maybe they didn't want us to stay and have a meal there. That's a possibility too. Take-out is probably how they stay in business if that is the kind of service they offer to every one.
