My first bite included a large chunk of rope. A braided piece of rope that was about 5 inches long and 1/4in across that was in the walnut crema. We let our waitress know and she took away the dish with a "o no, sorry". She ignored our table for the next 40 mins. We had to request a replacement of the dish and ask about when the rest of our food would be delivered. She seemed visibly annoyed to have to speak to us. After that, another staff member asked if we'd like another round of drinks, which we declined. Another drink was brought over anyway, and when we let them know it wasn't ordered the waitress instead tried to prove that it was until we just agreed to keep the drink and our primary waitress reluctantly let us know that it was on them. Our food eventually came out, and was tasty; but we received our steak knives well after we were more than halfway through and the waitress half tossed them on the table, still seeming quite annoyed despite all of the service and kitchen errors. At no point did a manager come over to apologize for the egregious mistake of rope in a dish, nor did the waitress ever address it or apologize beyond the first fleeting sorry, not even when we paid or as we were leaving. Some of the worst service I've...
Read moreWe've been eating here since they opened and always have a great experience. Staff is lovely and welcoming, very competent. It remains one of the most consistent options in Hudson and the bar is a great vibe as well. A issue that we have, which is also consistent, is the portion size to price ratio is increasingly problematic, our pasta dish has maybe 6oz of total food for $29 and the steak, while always perfect was not enough for two to share despite the $86 'steak for two' pricing. These issues can be overlooked if Rivertown had a competent wine program but we are always not just disappointed but actively dismayed at their wine offerings. Our last meal there we tasted everything by the glass and had to leave and go get wine down the street at pay the corkage, which is fair at $25. For such a great hospitality experience it's bizarre the wines are so terrible. 'Natural' wines can be some of the most amazing in the world but we always find the wines served here to have faults and are just downright...
Read moreReally exceptional meal. The bread was delicious and very generous. The duck and tilapia were very fresh and what came with them quite substantial. The wax beans were seared perfectly. The miso ice cream dessert was terrific, maybe the only slight fail was the cream and peaches dessert which tasted slightly off. Very cozy atmosphere and...
