Located at the top of the main drag of an interesting, eclectic New York town is this cute, clean, cozy comfortable motel turned lodge. The lobby is welcoming and bright with dueling wood stoves and a mix of comfy and trendy furniture. Complimentary coffee and tea all day and a large communal table at which to sit and work if thatās part of your plan while visiting. |The welcome was genuine and the check in process easy. Plenty of easy parking. |Our first floor room was clean and quiet and simply furnished. Wood floors are always my preference and in addition to the bed (which was comfortable but on the smaller side for two) there was a nice reading chair and a small table with 2 additional chairs. The bathroom was beautiful - great tile and fixtures and nice big shower. The in house bath products were lovely and plenty of fluffy white towels. |On each hall they have āhonor pantriesā offering a rather interesting selection of snacks and bevies. Nice touch. No wine opener though which seemed a silly oversight. |Complimentary hipster bikes with baskets were a nice touch and we spent one morning exploring the town and itās 10,000 antique and vintage stores. |The tavern in the hotel was amazing with one small caveat. Waaaaaaay too many hipsters working there on a fairly quiet evening yet still waaaaaaay too difficult to get service. The bartender forgot our drink order twice. Despite the fact we were sitting at the bar right in front of him. And itās a small bar. He kept walking back and forth doing other things and then seemed totally surprised each time we reminded him we were still waiting. He was not remotely apologetic. And when we tasted one wine that was definitely āoffā|And brought it to his attention he impatiently rolled his eyes and told us thatās what it was supposed to taste like. Hmmmm. |The food (we only had apps) was absolutely out of this world. Trout tartare and a mushroom dish. 10 plus for both. |Probably would not go back to tavern for drink or food though as it was just not a pleasant welcoming experience and there are waaaaay too many other incredible food options in town. I found that kind of a shame because I usually love to āhangā at the place at which Iām staying. But the hipsters running it just made it less than fun for a couple of fairly hip 50 year olds. |On the whole a great little hotel. Possibly|A bit pricey but not...

Ā Ā Ā Read moreGetting there: Very easy to find and park.||Check-in was quick and professional. Friendly and welcoming clerk. Stylish, attractive lobby with cozy seating, book shelves, today's newspapers, and big windows. Lobby is open 7am-11pm with coffee and tea available the whole time.||Our room #3 was very clean, and very handsome. Two very comfortable chairs, a small round table, and two bedside tables. Floor lamp by one chair and wall lamp by the small table. No dresser or drawers, but there is a suitcase stand. Instead of a separate closet, the closet rod with hangars is just inside the door. There is a large flat panel TV with remote. The bathroom was extremely clean. The shower stall has a single fixed glass side panel, with no shower door. The room was a very comfortable place to be, and extremely quiet during our weekday stay. Effective air conditioning with a constant fan speed that didn't interrupt our sleep. We slept very well.||The door does not automatically lock behind you, so remember to turn the deadbolt yourself.||Checkout at the front desk was a snap.||Pros:|- Fun location in Hudson, near Wunderbar Bistro and Hudson Roastery.|- Sharp furnishings in excellent condition. |- Handsome wood floor and wainscoting.|- We liked that most of the lights had dimmers built into their switches, so we could turn the lights down in the evening.|- Super thick towels.|- Bedding and pillows are of excellent quality, well above average compared to a chain hotel.||Cons:|- No in-room coffee, early risers must wait for the lobby to open at 7am.|- Although there is a large window in room 3, it faces onto a public 1st floor space, so we left the opaque blackout shade down during our stay. We'd have liked a 2nd more translucent window shade to let in some light in the daytime.|- There is no counter in the bathroom, and the only shelving holds the towels. I managed to bang my head on the corner of the towel shelf 3 days out of 3, as I reached for my shaving kit balanced on the back of the toilet, but then I'm a...
