I recently spent a weekend at the Hudson Whaler to celebrate my wife’s birthday. I booked a “suite” (room 302) so our daughter could join us from NYC and prepaid for the room. The “suite” turned out to be a long and narrow room with a bed and a sleeper sofa, which is not a suite by my definition.
The hotel is tired with cheesy pseudo nautical appointments and outdated carpeting in the common areas. The room was noisy at night although in fairness to the hotel, it was the weekend of winter walk with a huge influx of revelers. There is no food or drink offered in the hotel other than a Keurig machine. This created a problem particularly on Sunday morning when the nearest breakfast option was not conveniently located. It would be easy to overlook many of these issues if this was a moderately priced hotel; however, at nearly $700/night including taxes & fees, these lapses are unacceptable.
A few days after our disappointing stay I noticed an additional charge from the hotel on my card. Upon telephoning, I learned that I had been charged for a guide book taken from the room. I explained to Allison on the phone that we definitely did not remove the book, she stated that if housekeeping reported it missing, it must have been taken and she refused to reverse the charges. In a lovely town with many appealing hotel choices, sadly the Hudson Whaler is not...
Read moreWe went to the Hudson Whaler hotel for a few days the beginning of July 2025. The hotel is absolutely charming. and is located on the Main Street of town with easy walking distance to most of the recommended local sights, restaurants and shops. When we entered the hotel, we were greeted by a very friendly and most personal young woman who showed us around the main floor with the beautiful and charming Old World furnishings and decorations, including the lovely backyard with comfortable seating surrounded by flowers and plants. . We then went up to look at our room and were very impressed with all the modern up to date amenities. The furniture, while looking Old World contained all modern and up to date features with the bed having a most comfortable firm mattress, very soft linens and several blankets, there was a large flat screen TV, heat and air conditioning with in room controls and even an outlet box to charge your computerized devices. The new fully equipped bathroom had excellent lighting and a terrific walk in shower. ||Our stay at the Hudson Whaler was wonderful and the staff was most courteous and helpful in answering all our questions and requests for restaurants, places of interest, travel...
Read moreI had a wonderful stay here from start to finish and I will definitely be back!
First off, communication with the hotel was A+, I had arrived super late and was not able to get phone calls or emails, so I was not able to let them know - but they were smart and two steps ahead and provided me with all the information I needed! I was super impressed and VERY grateful.
I came with my husband and two dogs and the staff was diligent about helping keep the room clean and fur free! The whole hotel is brand new and spotless! One of the cleaning ladies really went above and beyond - she laundered my dog's bed after she had an accident on it! I was ready to throw it away but she said no, and offered to wash it for me instead! SO kind!!!
Another perk of this hotel is that it is located in a prime location with walking distance to countless restaurants and bars! The parking is super convenient too - located in a lot right behind the hotel!
Crystal and Paul were the experts we went to when asking for dinner, breakfast, and coffee recommendations! They were so pleasant to speak with!
Check out was a breeze as well! I highly recommend staying here - you won't be...
