Capital Corner — Restaurant in City of Ithaca

On April 30 I had one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had at this restaurant. I walked in a few minutes after 6:00PM and ordered two sushi dishes and a bowl of miso soup. There were only two other tables of diners at the time and one of them already had appetizers in front of them; the other already had drinks. It should not have taken long to get my order to the table. It took nearly 20 minutes just to get the miso soup. Miso soup is a simple dish that most restaurants have pre-made, standing by in a pot, ready to serve. A table that came in after me and ordered at least 10 minutes after me got their appetizers before I got that soup. I waited another 30 minutes until about 6:50pm and still didn't have even one of my two sushi orders. We're talking about a dish that doesn't even require cooking. It's fish and rice and seaweed. A woman who ordered take out got her entire order and both of the tables that arrived before me got their orders. A large group of college kids came in and the one employee serving customers began taking their orders with no sign of me ever getting my food, so I left. I left hungry and angry. Not only did I get nothing but a single bowl of miso soup in an hour, I got no apology for the late food and no explanation from the kitchen as to why my food was taking so long to not cook. I will never set foot in this restaurant again. I left a sign in the window that said "slow service" as a warning to anyone else who came by that night. I wish there had been a way to magically prevent anyone from taking the sign down, so that the memory of their failure will stay with them as long as it will...

I have been a loyal customer of this establishment for two years and used to really enjoy this restaurant-- but I have always been extremely unsatisfied with the level of professionalism. Is the food good? A little, but not enough to deal with the BS this restaurant frequently puts me through. Until recently they had a rude lady answer the phone who was very aggressive when placing orders. Today, I ordered food, two hours passed and no food arrived. I had called after an hour and 30 minutes, then 2 hours, and I was told the driver was outside at the end of the 2 hrs. I stood outside for 10 minutes in the freezing Ithaca weather for my food which I had placed for multiple people. After this, I called the restaurant back and there was no response. My also friends called, and between us we probably called 10x only to discover the restaurant was closed. Will never eat here again until they get it together. I'm sure there's many other restaurants in Ithaca with the same quality of food-- only difference? They care about...

Ordered food through door dash delivery. It seemed as if the Chinese food place itself performed the delivery. The Door Dash app was never updated on when my order was being delivered. However, when the man who delivered my order arrived he called me to come get my order. I told him he could leave it on the porch, but he insisted he would wait for me to come down. It was very considerate because he just didn't want my order to get stolen before i got to it. 10/10 service.

as for wait time, I'd say it took around 30-35 minutes for my order to arrive. I forgot to snap any pics before chowing down lol but I will say all the portion sizes were good and the food was delicious. I ordered pork dumplings, and the noodle was cooked to perfection. It had a very nice texture, and the meat inside was juicy and flavorful. The chicken and broccoli were very good, and so was the chicken lomein. 😼 The crab Rangoons had a really nice flavor, but the filling was strangely thick, not bad, just not what I'm used to.
