Angry Mom Records — Local services in City of Ithaca

One of my favorite record stores of all time. Very fair prices, no “tourist prices” like some other record stores upstate (you know who you are...) Angry Mom also has top-notch quality control: I have bought about 100 records from Angry Mom, and the media quality on used records has always been very high—no significant scratches, no warps, nothing that effects quality or playback, just good clean vinyl!

In response to Pamela’s 2-star review: high prices? I have not found this to be the case at all. If you look them up, 9 times out of 10, their prices seem to fall right around “the average,” but keep in mind Angry Mom vinyl is always CLEAN, whereas other sellers are charging the same price for vinyl that is sometimes lower media quality. Angry Mom’s prices are consistently very fair, and when you consider the quality factor, that makes them even better value. Regarding the rude person you encountered, well they weren’t an employee. In my experience, it is normal to run into a weirdo who lacks social skills at most record stores—welcome to vinyl collecting! We made the 2 hour trip to come visit this store. It was simply an ok experience. The staff was friendly at the register but no greeting or hello when entering or asking if they can help you find something. The selection was pretty unimpressive to be completely honest. I’m a fan of hip hop metal and rock I found these sections to be extremely underwhelming. Used and new records are in the same section. The prices aren’t great for the quality of some of the albums. It looks cluttered in some areas. Like if they unpacked all of their inventory they might have a better selection. It was a 2 hour drive for a disappointing 20minute dig. I’ve been to a ton of record stores around the US and Western Europe, and Angry Mom is the best of em, especially in terms of customer service. The crew is friendly, laid-back, and always willing to offer sound advice on music, media, and gear. They have a tremendously diverse stock for all tastes, and always have extremely high-quality collections coming in. If they don’t have it, they’ll order it for you.
