Bernadette's Bistro — Restaurant in City of Kingston

This is a truly wonderful restaurant! We had dinner there two weekends ago. The food (We split an endive salad, I had a terrific tuna dish in a sweet/spicy but not too sweet or spicy chili sauce; my husband had a rich but not too rich chicken dish with mustrooms in a cream sauce, apple tartan with vanilla ice cream dessert) was outstanding in every way; fresh, skillfully prepared, amply portioned, and artfully presented. Our host/server Max was delightful, and added to the wonderful experience, answering our questions and advising while being very entertaining and professionally personable. The glass of rose I had was excellent. The ambiance is great; I love older buildings that have been been renovated well, and this is a great physical space. From the one hand, the food was good, fresh and interesting, but at the whole experience was bed. We waited for more then an hour… after a wait of 35 min, we decided to go somewhere else, but the waiter (that was nice, and I don’t think it was his fault) told us the food is coming in “a few min”. We waited anther 25 min to hear that “we are next”. At that point most of the places around were about to close and we stayed. At the end the food came after 1:15 hours. Maybe something happened that evening (all the customers got the same responses), nevertheless, I expect to a different service for the least. They can offer something while we waited that ready or maybe something to drink, desert, bread, anything… at the very least to tell us that it’s will take another 30-40 min and not “few more minutes”. Had a fabulous meal at this delightful, relatively new restaurant. Relaxing environment. Had a wonderful waiter named Max. The ginger carrot soup was so delicious. My chicken palliard over fresh sauted vegetables was amazing. My husband's chicken endive salad was terrific. He also enjoyed a Leffe Belgian Blonde Beer. Definitely will go back when in the area.
