Had a reservation made for brunch at 11:30am for 6 people. We all had arrived on time, waitress was friendly. Took our drink orders but took about a half hour to get along with a reminder. Once we received our drinks we put in our food orders, we were told of the 2 items that were sold out (not a problem.) We had not seen our waitress come back to us from our 11:30am reservation until 1:00pm until we called her over. All of our surrounding tables and people that had come in after us had been receiving their food. The waitress had told us she would check, and never came back. We flagged a busser down and inquired about the situation. He did not return but another woman did, maybe the hostess (she was very polite and understanding.) we expressed our concerns to then come to find out one of the dishes we ordered was out. So after 2 hours of no communication, or service we left. This was my first Time there as well as the 4 others. The other 2 I was with had been for dinner and had been very happy with their service and meal so I thought I would give my birthday brunch a try here! This experience most definitely won’t have me back which is a shame. It was cozy and the atmosphere was great, open kitchen (which I love), and a great menu. Really unfortunate service - honestly was so terrible. We are also very local to the area from different surrounding towns in ulster county and all have grown up here. Brunch options I feel for this area are still on the fewer side so to switch things up from the usual destination comes with a lot of excitement, but ended in a...
Read moreDo not dine here. The inside of the restaurant was empty because it was 11:01am on a sleepy Sunday. They seated us outside in the cold, we had to turn the heaters on ourself and they were removing the locks from the outdoor furniture.
The waitress promptly told us they ran out of milk when we ordered our coffees. They also ran out of bacon the “day before.” Who runs out of milk and bacon at a breakfast restaurant.
Most IMPORTANTLY my friend ordered a gluten free bun on the bacon less “BEC.” The waitress said it was no problem and wrote it down. When the sandwich came out because the service had been so sub par thus far we inquired if the bun was actually gluten free before taking a bite. She looked perplexed and confirmed that the kitchen did in fact give us a regular bun qnd proceeded to ask if they could slide the eggs onto a new gluten free bun.
Needless to say when the new sandwich came out we inspected the sandwich. It appeared to be egg beaters and not actual eggs. It tasted like microwaved eggs from Dunkin’ Donuts that had been dehydrated.
This is not on the fault of the kitchen but the aforementioned egg beaters were seasoned with sesame seeds and pumpkin seeds. My friend is allergic to sesames and never would have thought to mention this allergy for a BEC. I can’t imagine the value that pumpkin seeds add to an egg sandwhich.
This was priced 3-4 times more than the value of the food. This is not the fault of the waitress but the entire establishment is mismanaged. Bad food, bad experience,...
Read moreWorst restaurant experience, maybe in my life. To start, after winning a long time for the bottle of wine, we ordered, the $80 bottle of wine, the least expensive wine on the menu, we learned that that wine was no longer available. After waiting another eternity, the server arrived with the bottle of wine already opened And not offering us the opportunity to taste the wine before pouring into our glasses. While pouring into our glasses, the wine spilled onto our table and the server made no attempt to wipe it up. After waiting a long time it was finally wiped up. We had ordered with the wine, some bread and butter, which never came. The appetizer muscles was delicious, if parsimonious. There were nine muscles for $20, which made each of the nine muscles costing more than two dollars.
We ordered the duck. The duck arrived overcooked, tough, and bland. All the food on the plate was tepid. The potato cake was cold and oily.
When the bill arrived, we noticed that the price for the duck on the check was more expensive than on the menu. We pointed this out to the staff who gave us a new check with the correct amount. When we said that it was really not cool Too overcharge for lousy food, the server said “you have no idea“.
Earlier in the meal, I was tempted to just get up and leave, but didn’t.
The mail came to close to $200. And I forgot to mention that the $80 bottle of wine was mediocre at best. Most Box wines are superior to what we were served.
Very, very, very...
