This was my first visit to Vesuvios. I heard about it for years but never made it there until today. Reservations are recommended. The atmosphere is quite nice and has the perfect ambiance (in my opinion). Service was timely and courteous. We started our venture with drink specials (Limoncello Martini, Pinot Grigio and Spiced Pear Martini). Excellent on all accounts. Appetizers were Butternut Squash soup (seasonal) and fried Calimari. Vesuvius Calimari is one of the best. Crispy crust and tender pieces perfectly seasoned with plenty of marinara sauce. Entrees come with a salad, which was very good, and just the right amount of dressing. We had shrimp scampi, and two specials. Specials were a very unique gnocchi dish called pumpkin spice gnocci (seasonal) and a 14 ounce pork chop. All dishes were really good. The gnocci dish was very interesting. Being a first-generation Italian-American, I know gnocchi. So I was initially suspect of the fused flavors. Much to my surprise it was quite good. All the flavors are blended perfectly with no single flavor overpowering. I never had cranberries with an gnocci dish before. Honestly, I would order this again. Especially if you want something different. Too bad it is a seasonal dish. For desert, I had a double espresso and a Rum Spiced Bread Pudding. Also very good. All in all, it was a very pleasant experience. You never get a second chance to make a first impression. I...
Read moreI would like to give 4.5 stars....or even 4.7...We had dinner there tonight, the meal was superb as was the service....we enjoyed our appetizer, salad and entrees...we were looking forward to a leisurely coffee and dessert but we even though we had a reservation we were seated in the front room where the bar (with a TV) is. The were patrons at the bar talking very loud...to others that were at the hightop tables near the bar..and they were all speaking to the hostess, loudly...We were looking forward to coffee but we had heard enough about the taxes of teachers that one guy was telling the others about that he does, as well as other topics. It is one thing if patrons are loud but for the hostess to be participating in the loud conversation kind of bothered us, especially as we didn't have a choice of front bar equipped room, or rear more peaceful room...a gentleman came out from the kitchen and stood there a while as well...on the way out the Hostess wished us well as did one of the loud talkers at the bar, maybe staff member, owner??
I could not give 5 stars..I would but with staff condoning loud cross table talk, I had to deduct something...and I can't award half stars
Will we go back, sure. The food and service were top notch...BUT we would not sit in the...
Read moreI ordered lasgna with extra bread to go on the weekend. Once I came to pick it up, within the 20 minutes I was told it would be ready, I waited another 20 minutes. There was no one present at the hostess podium. I had to go to the bar, where there was a male and female bartender. It took about 10 minutes for me to get their attention. It didn't appear that they were being slammed with drink orders, so I was a bit annoyed with the delay. Finally, the male bartender asked if I ordered food, I replied yes, and he proceeded to bring my bill ($19.51). I gave him $20, and he didn't give me any change back, which I guess was the tip (also annoying). About 10 minutes later, he brought me my order. I noticed there was no bread included in the order, even though I ordered extra. I told the bartender about the extra bread, and he apologized and retrieved the bread for me. Now, on to the order. The noodles were undercooked, half the cheese was burnt, and the meat looked as if it wasn't cooked together with the dish. Long story long, I wouldn't recommend this place, and I will not order...
