One of the worst experiences that I've had with a Dennys! Not the wait staff; they were great. Rather it was their so-called cook! Well, them and the manager that was present that morning (31Jul2022). Geez, had asked for extra-crispy hashbrowns; first attempt to my plate they were barely browned/cooked. This was for both me as well as for a fellow breakfast companion who had asked for the same as I. So I rejected that attempt and waited...meanwhile, our waitress was great with keeping us advised of what was going on in the kitchen. Second try from the kitchen was as the first, and I rejected that also. I mean, how f'ing hard to fry/cook hash rows so that they are crispy, right? Well, third attempt resulted in a small dish with the hash notbrowns (nor crispy) floating in oil; yummy, really appetizing -NOT! Meanwhile, that wonderful waitress who kept us appraised that the manager was aware of this situation (who never came over to talk to us or to apologize for the excessive wait for food/wrong cooked food from the kitchen) had also informed us that the cook(?) was fairly new to the job. There some other miscues wrt the order but hashbrowns? How hard are those (hint, you just let them sit there as they turn brown; just that easy! Extra crispy, let them sit longer!) And that the manager lacked the civility (or moral backbone) to come over to us to apologize or possibly offer to adjust the price. So my advice is to go elsewhere for breakfast. Other meals may offer better experiences, but at...
Read moreWhile my wife and I were in town visiting family, my mother-in-law suggested that we go to Denny's as she had not had Denny's since moving to NF from Chicago. The experience was hit-or-miss, but mostly miss.
When we got there, there was a sign that noted that they were understaffed. I have no issue with that at all' unfortunately that's the time we currently live in. What I had an issue with was the ambiance and food.
I didn't smell it at first, but there was this smell of old mop water...and I realized that most likely they were cleaning the seats and tables and not changing the towels they were using. Ugh.
So then I am thinking that the food should make up for it. I was disappointed. First, I ordered the cinnamon roll pancakes with eggs, hash browns, and told them I wanted both bacon and sausage. The sausage was cold and the bacon was the wimpiest and saddest looking bacon I have ever seen. Come on...for what customers pay, the bacon and sausage should be beyond awesome, but not a chance. Just awful.
I am not expecting Denny's to be a five-star restaurant, but the experience could definitely be better. The waitress, Meesun (I believe her name was?), was trying and so was an older lady, whom I assumed was the manager. They really tried and I felt for them, so all in all, the service was good, but everything else left a lot to be desired.
Food.....C- Price.....C+ (customers deserve more for their money) Customer service (thank you,...

Location #8118 I am complaining about the horrible service we received recently. We went at night to location 8118 and it was not busy at all ...we ordered food and received fries that were over oily and it was obvious that the oil was old. When we addressed this with the waitress, we also addressed the fact that the hash browns we received were almost raw under cooked (can provide a picture). When the waitress came back without a word laid the new fries at our table .. .... The fries were fried in the same oil so still had the smell and hardness to them ( could not be eaten) and the hash browns now came burned. I think what i don't understand is why did Denny's cook, waitress and the other 3 people working and hanging out in the kitchen see this plate of burnt hash browns and over fried/oily fries and think it was acceptable to give to a customer?? That's not the quality i expected for what I paid. Offered to forward pictures of the hash browns the raw and the burnt and our receipt as an example of what we were expected to accept as food to eat.
Very disappointed at our experience
Update- it's funny how my formal complaint wasn't addressed but when I post to Google, I get a response right away. Sorry Denny's you want follow up from me?.... respond to my original complaint, same name...
