Stone's Homemade Candies — Restaurant in City of Oswego

I have been here a number of times. The new soft serve ice cream is delicious. 5 stars on the soft serve ice cream, but serving size and customer service seem to vary. Sometimes you get what you pay for on size and service. Other times you leave disappointed on both. The one size fits all cup doesn't work. Should adopt sizing method similar to Carvel's "cone/dish" sizes and always serve with happiness. Certainly nobody should be greeted and served by someone that looks and acts as though they don't want to be there and don't want to serve you. Fix those few items and it would be 5...

It has that hometown feeling you're looking for. They have some updating in the store front!Their Caramel Pecan Turtles (which are jokingly called tortoises, because they are as big as your palm) and Caramels, Sea Salt or plain are made in house and are the best I've ever had! And their seasonal items such as peanut brittle and sponge candy can not be beat. The staff is friendly and quick, and they have a beautiful patio for folks to enjoy with their homemade custard! Opted for what sounded like a delicious treat, the turtle sundae. Vanilla ice cream pecans, chocolate, caramel, and topped with one of Stone's turtle candies. It might have been good, and the candy was good, but the ice cream was badly freezer burned. To be fair, this was Memorial Day weekend, and it is probable that later in the summer they might have better turnover and fresher ingredients. Two other people in our group also had freezer burned ice cream. If you go, wait until later...
