I have only been there twice. The last time I went there it was with 3 other people so I thought I would share their thoughts as well.
My Dad: He likes the place a lot and is always happy with their service. The day we went in he asked for coffee and so did my Aunt. They didn't have any brewed but they made a pot and my Dad said that was great service. He ordered the reuben and fries. He liked the fries. He said the Reuben was alright but he wished the meat was sliced thinner.
My Aunt: She got a hamburger. She was not happy with it and said it had no flavor; like it had not been seasoned before cooking or was frozen meat. In an earlier review the owner stated he gets local meat from boscos. Boscos I agree has the best meat in town so I am really happy the owner uses locally sourced meat. I am just going to guess maybe something happened with the seasoning that day.
My Uncle: He got the Reuben like my Dad but hr was not happy with the amount of clear liquid coming out of it. It was probably just extra water from the sauerkraut; my Uncle is hard to please so I defer to my Dad's review of the Reuben above :)
Me: I got the chicken fingers and fries. The fries were good but the chicken was run of the mill tyson frozen chicken tenders. I was hoping for some actual tenders. I wasn't dissapointed but next time I will try a burger or something non frozen from their menu. I really liked the atmosphere and look of the place. The owner is very responsive to feedback and I like that about a business. My Dad seems to go there once a week so he must really like the place. I won't go there THAT often but I will definitely...
Read moreWe were seated promptly, that's about the best I can say for the place, after that it was all downhill. The table full of college kids next to us came in well after us, but had their drinks and food order taken before anyone offered us water. I was ready to leave, but my wife flagged down the waitress taking care of the college kids. She took our order, eventually a different waitress delivered our order. Our food was okay, it was warm but certainly not hot, and certainly nothing to rave about. Standard bill of fare in every sports bar everywhere. It spent some considerable time under a heat lamp before it got to us. We had to flag down the waitress to get the check otherwise we might still be sitting there waiting. The place just was not that busy! Our waitress seamed bothered at having to take time away from the college kids to serve us. In total we spent an hour and 45 minutes for a burger and fries with a beer and an order of chicken fingers for my wife. The poor performance cost our waitress when it was time for me to leave a tip and next time we're in town we will certainly avoid this place... A very...
Read moreTwo main questions people ask:
1.Would I go again? No, I would not likely go out of my way to go there.
Would I recommend? No, I do not think I would, but we only went there once and to be fair we should try it at least again.
We started with the Spinach artichoke dip appetizer. While a slightly different taste than most we have had at other places it was tasty and turned out to be the highlight of the meal.
I had a Ruben and it came with assembly required. The sauerkraut had an off putting flavor that made the sandwhich marginal and the bread slightly soggy. Also, the amount of meat was lacking per most Rubens I have had.
My wife had a turkey and roast beef club. It was very dry. Once my wife asked for mayo and added it the sandwhich was better though not up to the top offerings at some of our go to places.
The waitstaff was nice but somewhat pre occupied with the NCAA game. Be aware that there are no free refills. Another, minor, hit. The restaurant was clean and had the typical sports bar decorations. Adding a little history of Oswego and the harbour would have been...
