My wife and I have arrived at Farmers and chefs restaurant in Poughkeepsie for a 7:15 reservation that we had made. Our server was Christina, it started off good until I received my draft beer that had something floating in it and mention to Christina our server. This is when it gets very interesting, she had taken the draft beer back to the bar which is approximately 12 ft from where we were sitting. After Christina had brought me another glass from the bar and same as the first class there was something floating in it. As Christina was walking back to the bar there were other servers standing there and I can see her complaining to them about my complaint. Christina should not judge people because she does not know what I know and that is I service restaurants. It could be one of two things, the beer lines are dirty and/or when they clean them they did not flush them properly That's all. And if she was a good server she would suggest a bottle instead of draft. Did not complain about the second glass that was served to me, didn't want Christina's head to explode. Now for the food that was served to us. My wife had ordered the duck with sweet potatoes and vegetables and I ordered the shrimp scampi which was okay. My wife asked me if my dinner was hot, I said yes why, she said her dinner was cold. I have felt her dinner and yes absolutely cold. I had said to my wife should I say something and she said absolutely not. As a company that services restaurants we see a lot, some good some bad. Most people are very leery about sending food back to be recooked. And was this done deliberately by our server Christina thinking she wasn't going to get a good tip or was it the kitchen that messed up. And yes I left her a good tip not fantastic like I usually do because servers deserve it, the check came out to $118 and I left a $20 tip. As a multi-business owner, I would not have Christina work for me. And there's nothing in a response that wouldever change my mind about eating...
Read moreI really wanted to like this place but was underwhelmed. The menu looked really good and my husband and I decided to go this past Sunday based on the great reviews. We called two or three days ahead and were easily able to get an early reservation but they advised they were not having brunch because of the college graduations, which we were fine with. Since we had an early reservation, I had no issue parking in the strip of spaces next to the restaurant. Since it was humid, we dined inside. Our server was fantastic, very attentive, friendly and personable and contributed to the experience. We started out with the burrata crostini appetizer which was tasty. It was actually a nice contrast having a thin slice of slightly sweet apple under the cheese. The scallions were good, but the pink peppercorns on top detracted from the flavor of the dish. I understand the approach for contrast (very sweet fig jam, slightly sweet apple, sweet balsamic reduction, cheese) but I didn’t agree that the peppercorns worked. It was a nice appetizer but nothing I couldn’t recreate myself at home. For entrée, I had the pan roasted duck breast. The waitress asked me if mid rare was OK but the duck came out way overcooked and dry. I probably should have sent it back. Everything on the plate tasted good but the meat and asparagus needed salt (duck was nicely seasoned except for salt and being overcooked, mash was delicious). My husband’s burger was cooked properly but also needed salt. My bohemian passion cocktail was fantastic. There were a lot of interesting flavors that worked well together and made a delicious drink (but I like sweet drinks, and it was definitely sweet). My husband’s Results May Cherry was fine, he’s definitely had better old fashioneds and has had higher end bourbon at home. Overall, there was nothing terrible about our meal but also nothing that would...
Read moreI’m unsure where to start, excited to try a local taste of the Hudson valley my girlfriend and I decided to try this “farm to table” style. We sat down on a very quiet Thursday night. I’ll start with the good.. 1. My gf liked her drink. Ambiance is halfway to nice. Feels odd with cleaning supplies in a table with a lounge area and the news on while your trying to enjoy a warm feel dinning. But the decor was nice.
The issues were almost the entirety of our experience. My unsweetened iced tea tasted like dirty water. We had to ask for bread, order Buratta that took about 25 minutes. Entrees came out, I ordered the veggie burger and upgraded to parm truffle fries. Worst decision, they were soggy and soaked. For being fries with parm they had 0 salt aside from the cheese. The burger was tiny, mushy, and undressed. My girlfriend got the steak and swapped fries for potatoes. Her potatoes were unbelievably over salted, (maybe that’s where my salt for the fries went) no veggie for her, just steak and potato. The steak was cooked well, great crust, I think!! I say I think because the Au Puav was SMOOTHERED ontop. Guess what…. She disliked the sauce so the entire meal was trashed. Why didn’t they serve it in a ramekin? We couldn’t even complain about the meal because no one in the entire place checked on us. “Can we get you any dessert or coffee or just the check?” 132$ ouch. I’m pissed, and hungry. We stood up to leave and before we could put our jackets on they were table side to clean up. Worst service, bad display of local food. Don’t...
