Finally tried the pizza after living around the corner for almost 2 years. It was extremely disappointing- the “Comella” I can only describe as bland and anemic 😞 supposed to have garlic oil and garlic confit- but not even a hint of garlic flavor. 1 piece of basil- really? And so much dough. I love bread but the ratio of dough to toppings was way off. And I understand it’s wood-fired but that doesn’t mean burnt and inedible. I saw other pizzas come out and they looked equally disappointing. We were bummed bc we really wanted to love it but I don’t understand the hype here. Especially with so much competition in Rochester for delicious pizza. Even a large grocery store on east Ave with an Italian restaurant inside can do wood fired pizza with more flavor and a lower price tag. I am Italian and have eaten a lot of pizza in my life, so we will gladly drive to culver or winton or Clinton for some of our favorites we have discovered since moving back to Rochester. My husband wants to try your wings so I’m sure we’ll be back for a beer but no...
Read moreWe were very excited to try DoughBoyz for the first time after seeing a lot of hype on social media and from reviews. We ordered takeout tonight and were extremely disappointed. I ordered a gluten free pizza, and was excited that any of their pizzas could be made gluten free. I’m used to paying an upcharge and expecting a slightly smaller pizza at nearly every establishment, but the GF pizza here was ridiculously small. I would consider it to be the size of an appetizer flatbread, served in a small take out box. To be charged an additional fee for a pizza roughly half the size of a non GF one is very frustrating - especially when pizza is served on a crust that tastes more like a Texas toast. I wish there would have been photos and description of the GF pizzas when ordering online, because we would have been ordering from another...
Read moreIt was an average Wednesday when I arrived at Sager for what I thought was going to be an ordinary dinner with some friends. We ordered a variety of pizzas while we enjoyed the atomosphere and threw back some brewskis. Words don’t do a justice to the feelings I experienced taking my first bite. I was told a wonderful young man named Niko made this pizza, but I don’t believe it. This pizza was delivered straight from the gates of Heaven by the hands of angels. I probably ate two full pizzas and could have kept going, I went into a full trance and my body was completely controlled by the power of these delicious Za’s. The only complaint I have is now everything I eat that isn’t a DoughBoyz pizza has become severely underwhelming. All I can think about 24/7 is making my return to this wonderful...
