Mullers succeeds at what I think it aims to do, introduce you to ciders from all over the world.
The front from the outside is nonchalant. You can very easily miss it if you are not looking for it. I think the entire place is in the process of evolution based on feedback so that might change. The decor is minimalist/industrialist. There are quite a few dining tables as well as bar seating. There's a TV screen on the wall and specials and some menu items up on the wall. I don't recall any impressive wall art.
On to the ciders. These were chilled to a very refreshing temperature which is extremely important for an enjoyable beverage but you already knew that. There is a wide variety (and price range) of ciders you can try with the cheapest from New York. My suggestion would be to go for a flight. They let you choose 4 different ciders for $14 for your flight. The 1911 cider was the favorite. There were other good ones too but I can't remember specifics.
As for the food. Meh. The kettle corn was good to snack on. The cheese plate with Brie and Cheddar was decent. It came out with orange marmalade which was a good touch. The bread accompanying the cheese was okay. The sandwiches on the other hand (tried the grilled cheese and turkey) were dry and generic and cost $10 each which seemed a bit much for the quality we got. But again this place is not really selling itself for a gourmet food experience so I guess you can let that fly by.
They need to make the place warmer and put a screen in front of the main door. Every time anyone enters or leaves the place the entire room fills up with cold air causing testicular ascent which is undesirable and likely non-physiological at "room temperature".
Brownie points for having Gluten Free options.
The apple(s) in this case will NOT keep this doctor away.
I'll be back for the cider. I might snack. I will...
Read moreMullers is a Rochester gem! They maintain a steady rotation of local and regional ciders as well as craft beers. Their draft list indicates how sweet vs dry each one is which makes it less adventurous folks like myself excited about trying something new! You can sample pretty much any cider on draft, and the flights are a great way to enjoy a few! For a Cider Bar you may not expect it but the food here is fantastic. My husband and I have been coming here for years and sometimes just to get a pizza. The kettle corn is A+ and the breakfast food continues to impress year after year. I think we've had everything on the menu at least once. The staff here though has to be the brightest part about the place, even better than the vast cider selection and great food. The staff here are the friendliest and kindest people, which if I'm being honest, isn't a commonality amongst front facing staff at many local bars. The place could be packed, standing room only, line at the door and you will still be acknowledged, you will be smiled at and sometimes even your drink order will be taken and brought to you while your waiting for a table or room at the bar. The staff is also as knowledge as they are fun spirited which makes every visit to Mullers a wonderful experience. Think it can get any better? They do Trivia night, have so many fun board games for groups and families and best of all (my personal favorite) are the...
Read moreWe absolutely love Mullers! We really loved the spinach dip (please bring it back!). We most often attend trivia, especially the themed trivia events they've been hosting the last couple of years. We have noticed that the service lately has been sooooo slow. I would imagine that during the trivia events they would have extra staff on since they anticipate a sold out crowd (not to mention everyone arriving all at the same time, for the most part). I'm hoping they'll evaluate staffing in the future.
We do really love the themed trivia, but it is EXTREMELY difficult. We have fun for the first few rounds but the questions can be super obscure and become frustrating as the night progresses. We're not trying to be poor sports, we've reflected on the overall experience and the types of questions that are "fun" to answer. We asked where they got the questions one time and they did say it was Chat GPT. I know you need to make it a little challenging so there's no ties, but I would love to see more "fun," less incredibly specific, intricate/obscure questions in the future.
Ultimately, we'll continue to be loyal customers - we...
