Picture this: it's Saturday morning. You walk down a sidewalk on University Ave and pass by a foggy window. A scent catches your attention and you follow it into a building and down a hallway. The scent is overwhelmingly enticing now as you approach a bakery. The walls are adorned with Italian sports memorabilia, photos, and you feel at home immediately. You see a line of hungry customers chatting about the chocolate olive oil cake, pizzette, and what even are Maritozzi?
Forno Tony is a small but mighty bakery and is such a source of excitement for me as an Italian teacher! I mean, how lucky are we to have such a shining example of Italian-American ingenuity right here in our community?! I am so proud of what this business is achieving and will always be a fierce supporter!
August 2024 Update: Gelato has officially hit the menu at Forno Tony and it is superb. Absolutely superb. Samples are available if you're unsure of what to try but it's absolutely perfect. I had the fior di latte topped with peaches and it was...

The dough is light and airy, and the crust, even when you get it at room temperature, always has a crisp bite to it. The ingredients are so fresh. Never a clashing flavor. I'll be honest I don't know some of the exact names and ingredients to the selections but I recommend the red onion, sausage and vinaigrette pinsa. The white onion, mushroom, and I believe there is a vinaigrette on this as well. Another one of my absolute favorites is the roasted cherry tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, basil, and I might be missing some ingredients here. Either way nothing compares to Forno. Peels and Forno are my go to and they are so different that this deserves...
