Halal Spot — Restaurant in City of Rochester

By far, Halal Spot is the best thing to come to Monroe Ave in a long time. I can’t recommend this place enough, the food is seriously THAT good.

Went here on a whim once they opened, and now I come here a few times a week. Dude, I’ve tried over half the menu and it doesn’t matter what I order, I know it’s going to be fire, so spin the wheel. Always fresh, always delicious, always cheap. Their platters? GAS. The fries? GAS. Their burgers? GAS. I personally recommend the potato wedges, the Ring of Fire Burger, and anything their lamb or chicken comes on ESPECIALLY the gyros. They also have a homemade BBQ sauce that completes me as a person. Seriously, try it as a dip for the aforementioned potato wedges, thank me later ((don’t look at me I’m behind you in line…)) The place is clean, the staff and the owner are genuinely fantastic people, and the wait time has never been over 20 minutes. Walk in, drop $15, and that’s all you need for the night. Cheaper than cooking at home. that’s right dear reader, you forgot to make dinner and Wegmans is closed? Good news, they’re open till 2am. My friend told me try this place! If I could give it a Zero I would. 5/28/25 at 6 pm I went thinking it would be clean and friendly totally opposite I watched the cashier touch, plenty of money and then touch a customer’s food and put the pita in the grill with the nasty gloves on then The cook in the back one of the younger guys he put his hand in the rice with the glove on, and when I made a complaint to the manager, he said he used the spoon. No, he used his hand with the glove on put the rice in here are you talking about bacteria you talking about nasty you talking about unsanitary unclean supervisor never made him remake my food. Never made sure I was OK. He turned around and walked away and said oh he used the spoon. Do you know customers can see everything that’s going on in a restaurant like this where you could look back and see so I won’t be returning if you don’t want sickness or food poisoning I wouldn’t go here. Halal Spot has only been open for nearly a month and WoW!

The interior is clean, spacious and lots of natural light floods in through those big window’s. The art work definitely makes this place pop.

We ordered the Grilled Chicken Wrap and a Knockout Smash Burger. The Wrap was succulent and beautifully spiced to perfection. It was so yummy that I could have eaten another one! This is a must try.

However my partners Knockout Burger was definitely not a knock out as it was tiny! By that I mean it was smaller than what us Brits get served in England!! What happened to the American sized portions? On a positive the burger patty was made in house.

I have a feeling that management will definitely be ordering more tables and chairs once word...
