The ice cream parlor looked fun and festive. There was a wall of colorful toppings which lit up the space. It was a small place but big enough to move around to see the different flavors of ice cream. I think they may have had gluten free cone options. The place was somewhat lively since it was a comfortably cool. I was actually excited to visit because I love local ice cream shops. They remind me of places like Abbott's.
My friend got ice cream in a waffle cone. She liked it very much. The waffle cones looked very inviting. I was going to get the waffle cone dipped in rainbow sprinkles and chocolate (?). I ended up not getting ice cream because the service left me feeling unwelcomed, profiled, and somewhat embarrassed. I walked in the palor grinning from ear to ear, but walked out almost wanting to cry.
The location looked like fun. It looked like the kind of place you would want to take the family on a summer afternoon. It was clean and colorful. Sadly, I won't be returning because I can't give my money to a place I am...
Read moreA cute ice cream parlor with a solid selection of flavors. The kids will love it.
Ice cream lovers might not, though, depending on what you order.
The vanilla based ice creams are not very strong. The plain vanilla, in fact, is very gummy. Almost like soft marshmallow. It's straight up poor. The cinnamon was a solid step up from that, but still weak. You start getting into the "good" range, or at least close to it, with the salted caramel. All three of these flavors were not refrigerated properly - they were too soft.
There only thing that saved this place for me was the s'mores flavor, which showed that this place could do a rock solid, dark, dry chocolate. The base ice cream is top notch. My son thought there was too much marshmallow in it, but that's what you get when you order a flavor called s'mores.
Our two regular portions set us back about $12.50, which isn't great value in my opinion, though we're near New York and I'm not too familiar with the area. You might think that price is fine, but the value was weak by Philly...
Read moreSept 2023, the service was fast and the staff were friendly at the Rye, location. However, I am sorry to say that the ice cream we had was tasteless, boring with NO flavor. This is just my opinion. I ordered the small cup of Espresso Nugget and had them add a Wet Strawberry topping to it. OMG, when I looked at the topping on my ice cream I shrieked. It was gooey like jelly and disgusting tasting. I ended up wiping it off my ice cream and throwing it in the garbage. My friend ordered the Coffee Chunk ice cream, and she had them add Wet Nuts on-top. She told me her ice cream did not have a coffee taste to it, and she was right. I tasted her ice cream and it lacked any flavor. Honestly, I should just stick with going to Ben and Jerry’s for ice cream because at least their ice cream is more flavorful. All and all, I doubt I will ever LongFord this ice...
