Water Moon — Restaurant in City of Rye

I have ordered from here dozens of times but a few bad experiences have made it so that I will not be ordering there again. While the sushi is usually fresh for the reasonable price they charge, I've had a few instances where they definitely passed off older fish, and I've had to spit it out. Not safe and not good.

During the last instance, the 2 pieces of tuna sashimi were clearly bad. I was told that since my order history shows I always order rolls and sushi, I may not know what sashimi is supposed to taste like (pretty ridiculous). My gf is from Japan and said the second piece of sashimi tuna clearly smelled foul, this after I spat out the first piece because it tasted awful. I asked them to retrieve the uneaten piece, and then have the manager examine it and call me back but she never did. If they had called me back and apologized, I would have been OK with it as I wave ordered there many times without issue. Sadly, telling the customer they are ignorant put the nail in the coffin for me.

I still give them 3 stars because they are normally good, but as a Rye resident I'll be ordering only from Fogama going forward. It may be pricier, but the portions are bigger and I have never gotten...

Came for lunch on a Thursday afternoon at 12:30 p.m. Requested the standard General Tso chicken lunch special. Problem #1: The wonton soup was lukewarm and the wontons were dry and tasteless. Problem #2: Despite the restaurant being two-thirds empty, it took 40 minutes for my plate to arrive. Problem #3: When my plate arrived, it was cold and the breading on the chicken was rock-hard. It must have been sitting there for who knows how long. I sent it back. Problem #4: Instead of making a new plate, they dumped the chicken back in the wok to heat it, and brought it back out. I know this because the rock-hard chicken was still in the bowl and the remains of the rice from the last plate was still scattered around it!

My wife's pork curry was fine but this was by far the worst "Asian bistro" restaurant experience...

I order two kani salads which they have in their system as a Kari salad. After several attempts to order this salad on different occasions I finally figured this out. Even if you say Kani salad which in most American Japanese restaurants all the servers know about this popular salad. Here you must say Kari or the servers have no idea what your talking about. The salad is weak and rarely do I get a good quality. Tonight it has no dresses, few cucumbers and zero panko. I will not be ordering this salad anymore! Usually the salmon doesn't taste fresh but I guess I got lucky and tonight and it tastes great. I would steer away from sushi type food and only eat...
