I wanted to love this place because it sounded so clever and cool, but honestly, I came away thinking that it was only an "OK" experience and I felt a little taken. The first thing to note is that it's loud, and tables were too close together, I estimate about 6-10 inches between on the bench area. So, you'll sit next to a couple trying to have a date and hear every single word and can join in. It honestly gave me a Cheesecake Factory Vibe. Not very cozy or private. Maybe if we were given a different seat, it would have been better. Maybe. I'll also mention that you'll get a very weird surprise at the end of your meal, because your bill will include a "Coat Check Seating fee" of $10 per person. That's a weird way to present a cover charge.
The servers were hustling, but were constantly almost running into each other. This seemed unsafe and kinda ruined anything that was left of the atmosphere. I ordered the red snapper. The fish was chewy, the potatoes under the snapper were hard. Like undercooked hard. But we all agreed the curry sauce was tasty. Overall, that was not a $42 meal and I HIGHLY doubt an executive chef would let a plate like that out of the kitchen, so I'm not sure what was going on in the back.
The drinks were clever, but it was hit or miss on if we actually enjoyed them. I had one that was delicious-the Earl Grey. I also had a drink that was a complete flop--the drink was salad inspired. This could just be my taste buds though. We did sample the signature mojito cocktail, and that drink was not stirred, so there was only what tasted like soda water floating on top. None of us were able to get any of the flavor profiles advertised by the ingredients.
Getting back to the food, we also sampled the following dishes and here were our reviews: *Rabbit Meatballs--3 pretty small meatballs (maybe about an inch and a half circumference) that tasted good. *Charcuterie--everything on it tasted good, it was a nice appetizer, but it felt a bit basic. I felt like I could make something similar at home. The cheeses and meats were quality, the fig paste was probably the most popular item on it. Pizzas--we had ordered 2 different kinds to try. The crust was inconsistent on them, one crust was very gooey and you had to sort of scoop the ingredients, and the other crust was a little better cooked, but we weren't amazed--we've had better pizzas around at other establishments around the region.
Overall, maybe we hyped it up too much in our heads, maybe it was an off night, but we all left thinking that we kinda overpaid for an average sort of experience that was sort-of like...
Read moreUpdated Review: What a transformation! I’m happy to say that this spot has completely turned things around since my first visit. We now go weekly, and it’s become one of my absolute favorites in Saratoga.
The food continues to impress—still creative and flavorful, beautifully presented. It’s clear the kitchen hasn’t missed a beat. But the biggest surprise has been the bar. Tyler, the man behind the cocktails, truly knows his craft. Every drink I’ve had lately has been outstanding—balanced, inventive, and worth every penny. It’s a complete 180 from my earlier experience.
Service has also improved significantly. The team is attentive, and drinks come out in a timely manner. Plus, the addition of the rooftop bar has elevated the whole vibe. It’s the perfect spot to relax with a great cocktail and enjoy the Saratoga scene.
Credit where credit is due—this place has earned its second chance, and I’m glad I gave it one.
Old Review: I recently visited a so-called "speak easy" that turned out to be a far cry from the authentic, hidden-gem experience I had hoped for. While the ambiance and decor tried to emulate the elusive charm of a Prohibition-era bar, the overall visit left much to be desired.
Let's start with the positive note – the food. The menu boasted a variety of delectable dishes that managed to salvage the night. The flavors were rich, and the presentation was enticing. Kudos to the chef for delivering a satisfying culinary experience amidst the disappointment that followed.
Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the bar. The drinks were not only overpriced but also subpar in quality. Whether it was a classic cocktail or a signature concoction, they all fell short of the standard expected from a supposedly high-end establishment. The lack of skill and attention to detail in mixology was evident, making it challenging to justify the exorbitant prices.
The service was another major letdown. Waiting half an hour for each drink was nothing short of exasperating. The staff seemed either overwhelmed or indifferent to the patrons' needs, contributing to a lackluster and frustrating experience. With so many other great places to choose from, this level of service was simply...
Read moreWent to Saratoga for our 4 year anniversary. Booked this restaurant because of the reviews & when visiting the website I really liked the atmosphere & thought this would be a great spot for our anniversary dinner… well I couldn’t have been more wrong. The hostess was very sweet when we walked in & then sat us in a nice cozy booth. 15-20 minutes went by and we were never even acknowledged. I got up and went to see if we can get a waitress sent over to us, the one waitress turned around and said “oh I’m sorry, no one told me they sat my table” meanwhile she walked past us several times and just looked at us. Then when she finally came over to our table she was slurring her words, could barely keep her eyes open and took only my drink order not my husbands. Then 2 seconds later she came back to the table, sat next to me & asked me if I wanted FRUIT in my Pinot noir. I nicely replied no thank you can you please take my husbands drink order as well. She did and walked away. I quietly approached the hostess and told her I believed my waitress was drunk or on something & she said “ our manager is aware of this and is taking care of it” that they can either give us a new waitress or we could leave if we wanted to. Trying to give the restaurant the benefit of the doubt we stayed & got a new waitress. She was sweet but unattentive. Our food was subpar & our original waitress was STILL there as we were leaving, so apparently the manager was NOT handling anything & I guess they don’t mind if their employees are drunk! We...
