I booked a room for Adelphi Nov 2024 for Friday August 22nd, 2025, and Saturday August 23rd, 2025, with my 12-year-old for Travers Weekend.|Somehow the reservation only booked for one night on Sunday August 24th. |So, I arrived on Friday for my Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd room reservations, and I learned I had no room and there was a booking error. Admittedly this my home been my fault while trying to key in dates off the Adelphi website they may have kicked me into Expedia. The lady behind counter said under the circumstances I would be able to cancel my Sunday reservation since I was only there Friday and Saturday and not Sunday. |I then asked her/front desk employee if they had any rooms available and she said no they were fully booked. |She did then mention they had a one bed condo and pull-out bed that is not actually owned by the hotel available. The condo was $2,000 plus taxes per night so that's well over $4,000 for two nights. This was more than I wanted to spend on my annual father son trip to Saratoga. So, I said I declined.|So, I called Amex in a panic to find a room, and they found me a room at the Hilton for the weekend.|On my way home Sunday 24th I called hotel to make sure they room was cancelled as promised and their reply was no. They told me they had made the call of "NO" because I didn't take their offer on a condo they didn't own, they were not letting me cancel as promised for my Sunday night reservation. The cost was $1,262.83 for the night. They also feel back on I needed to cancel 14 days in advance. Of course, had I known about the booking error I would have cancelled months ago in 2024. They also charged me the room cost a year ago, so they had the money well in advance.|Yes, I understand there was a booking error, but all was done in good faith, and I arrived Friday expecting a room. "Laura" in Management and the hotel higher ups could have made the decision to cut me a break and help me on this honest error. To show some grace by accommodating my 12-year son and I but they choose to "stick it to me".|Now in the past I've stayed at the Adelphi, my father stayed there in 1950 and learned how to shave, and my grandparents going back the 1930'. Most recently since the place has opened as has my brother, and even, renting suites like the Polaris.|The place is very nice, my son loves it, and he learned to play chess with me on the balcony, and we created some nice memories there and we were so excited to stay there last weekend.|Unfortunately, now the image of what I believe of a High-End Customer Driven experience has been sullied by their actions. I now have the image of the Adelphi being into a "cheap money grab" management style.|As someone running a family company in business for over 110 years working with your customers is critical for long term success.|So, I say this loudly-Shame on the hotel to play 'small ball". I live within driving distance, and I have always spoken well of the place and encouraged others in the business community to give the place a try.|No longer.||Hard Expensive Lesson Learned-"be careful when staying here.....if you see droppings on a floor the one can assume rats are also living there".|The hotel showed its...
Read moreDear Helen,
My husband, daughter, and I stayed in room 411 this past weekend. We travelled from our home in New Jersey and arrived 9/4 and checked out on 9/6. We are longtime Saratoga visitors and had stayed at the Adelphi before the renovations. This was our first stay since the new ownership and renovation. I am writing to let you know that after such a gorgeous remodel, your service has fallen very short. It was unsatisfactory and missed the mark on all accounts. Let me recap:
All of the lights kept shutting off in the room and so I finally called the front desk and they told me they needed to change the settings to make it stop. There were 2 tissues left in the tissue box. I would've called housekeeping however it was the middle of the night. The shower, although beautiful, did not drain. The mini bar was not stocked. These small things should be simply handled with a well trained staff and a checklist.
We had reservations the next day for "racing under the tent" and we invited 3 friends to join us. The cheese plate was embarrassing and we were told we weren't able to order drinks from a regular bar menu. Your staff seemed young and untrained. Two gentlemen at the table ordered separate sushi rolls. The rolls came out on one plate and the server just dropped it between them. Totally unacceptable at any time but even more so these days. One of the ladies ordered a salad with crispy bacon. They forgot the bacon. My husband gave gratuities above and beyond and then the service improved slightly. We were given "real" flatware and plates. Something I would've expected at a hotel of your caliber regardless.
We had breakfast at The Blue Hen on Sunday morning. FOUR TIMES the cups and saucers came out dirty. Not just dirty. They had food stuck to them! The first time I told the server that perhaps he took them from the bus pan since they were so smeared with red sauce and food. The inside of the cups still had leftover coffee inside. His reply was "sometimes the dishwasher doesn't work so well." Disgusting. Wouldn't you think that the 2nd time you brought our cups and saucers you would've at least check them? NO. Back again, and again, and again.
Sunday morning at approx 10:30am my daughter and I used the ladies restroom just outside of The Blue Hen. Disgusting. There was NO toilet paper in any of the stalls. The wastebasket was overflowing with paper towels onto the floor and the counters were so covered in water that it got all over my blouse when I tried to wash my hands. It looked like the bathroom at an airport, not a 4-star hotel that boasts "the finest luxuries in the region."
My husband addressed his concerns to your manager, Laura Curtis. She was rude and very detached from his concerns and the conversation. She said to him, "what would you like me to do?" She offered him $100 credit and then credited him one night however when he checked our account she actually charged him $100.00!!
No one wanted to love this past weekend more than me. I was looking forward to staying at the Adelphi and introducing our friends to its beauty and grandeur. Needless to say I am extremely embarrassed and disappointed. You created a beautiful space but...

The hotel is awesome and the room was beautiful and it had all these cool light switches for every light you can imagine. Yes I'm into that. And the bathroom was so beautiful and had a big tub and it's on shower and one of the fancy Japanese toilet seats. The floor was heated. I literally took one of the fluffiest bath towels laying on the floor and laid on the floor for a while one day. The food was awesome and the staff was amazingly nice. My only issue was I was in the sweet and the door to the balcony didn't have a gasket all the way around the edge and we couldn't get the shades go down or the curtain to close it good enough. I was very cold when I was on the sofa bed. I don't like being cold and there's nothing I could do to make it warmer because we had to heat up as high as we could. They did bring me an extra blanket but I need he tore myself up because I'm an ice block. I kind of wish they'd had a heating blanket or even a heating pad I could have thrown over my legs. But other than that small issue it was so awesome my sister and I want to make it a yearly event. The restaurants are part of the hotel or also amazing. We did a lot of room service on our sisters bonding weekend. And we watched a lot of Amazon which we could stream on their TV from her own account which was cool. In the master bed was all nice and Squishy and comfy. The sofa-bed was okay. It's a sofa bed I didn't expect the same experience as the master bed. But again it was such a fun time. And they let us bring the dog. She was a brat but they let us bring her she's small but she had temper tantrum it when she has a temper tantrum she peed so we called the stuff and they came and they had equipment for the rug. In the bedding. She was very bad. And we felt really bad. But mostly she did use the pee pads we brought with us. Even if you're just a local book a stay at the hotel really is a fun...
