I recently stayed at Bluebird Spa City Motor Lodge; I selected it for many reasons, namely its relative affordability compared to other in-city lodging options, its cozy-looking vibes, and for the fact that it is SMACK DAB in the middle of the city.
Upon arrival at 8 p.m. that night, we checked in easily. The room we got - one of the ADA rooms on the first floor - was just what we were looking for: large cozy bed, large TV with ample streaming options, and a large bathroom with walk-in shower. As we really were staying there only to relax and sleep, other hotel necessities certainly weren't necessary - we survived without room service, an indoor swimming pool, and a mini bar, haaa. With that being said, we appreciated the free coffee, tea, and water in the open atrium area!
Pros: A bed that was so incredibly comfortable; I haven't slept so well in a long time, wow! The large mounted TV came with cable, Hulu, Disney+, et al. It was great to unwind with some of our favorite shows after a long day out. Super quiet! I saw some other reviews discussing noise from the atrium, but we heard virtually nothing. Regarding ADA bathroom features, there were plenty of grab bars throughout, a walk-in / roll-in shower that didn't leak into the main bathroom floor (Yay! I've been to many other hotels where the roll-in shower leaks / floods the rest of the bathroom floor), and a comfortable shower seat.
(Subjective) Cons: Regarding ADA features in the bathroom, they were ample as noted above. However, there is only one large light in the bathroom and the shower area itself was slightly dark; an overhead light in that area would have made things a bit easier to shower in the evening for my handicapped partner - something for consideration! There were only windows in the bathroom + one long frosted window by our door that "looks" into the atrium. It made the room a little TOO dark during morning hours when I would have appreciated a little sunlight...but also made for better sleeping with a darker room, I suppose. Ha!
I appreciate the simplicity and comfort of this place. I would...
Read moreLocation is perfect, walkable distance to everything. The front desk employee was nice, but he disappeared around 8 pm and nobody was at the front desk, or anywhere, overnight. We had a room with two queen beds which had a tv, mini fridge, small armoire and coat rack, safe, Bluetooth speaker, and a full length mirror. No microwave though. The shower didn't have a door, just half covered with glass which got water everywhere and was breezy, but we really enjoyed the great smelling shampoo and soaps that were available. Our windows didn't have screens, but we opened them a crack anyway because it was so hot in the room and even adjusting the thermostat didn't make a difference. The aesthetic and decor are modern and cute, and we loved the drinks on tap in the common area with lots of functional and comfortable seating. Unfortunately, we were woken up at 3 am by loud music and partiers in the parking garage right outside our windows. Once that stopped an hour later and we finally got back to sleep, we were then woken up again shortly after by the guests above us. You can hear EVERYTHING if you're on the lower level. So while everything looked great, the housekeeping staff were friendly and accommodating, and the location was nice during the day...if you actually plan on sleeping at night you may want to explore other options in the area that are further from where all the bars are, or request a room far away from anyone else...
Read moreI really love this hotel! I grew up in the area, but have been living downstate for 10 years, so a lot has changed. I stayed here recently and it was a great experience!
The room was great - really clean, I liked the layout / design and furniture, etc. all modern, minimal and industrial looking. It had everything I needed, and all the soaps/hair products were actually really good. There's a closet, drawers, a safe, robes, hangers, tv, mini fridge, ice bin, hair dryer, a darker hand towel for 'cosmetics' which I thought was cute. The whole hotel had great decor - books everywhere, and on the walls. There was coffee/cold brew/tea on tap on the main floor 24/7.
The staff were my favorite part though honestly - everyone was amazing and super accommodating. Shout out to Russell who I had some awesome convos with, who made my stay even more welcoming and felt like I was home. I even forgot my laptop charger and I must've bothered 3 different people at the desk to ask for one and everyone was just really friendly about it. Thank you to the girl who let me borrow that switch charger - it worked and you're a life saver 😂
I would rather stay at this hotel than any other hotel in the area :)
Anyone staying here will have a really great experience and it couldn't be in a better location. You will definitely feel...
