An end of an era. I am so sad to write this. We have been ordering from Pope's for the last 17 years. Tonight I ordered a small buffalo chicken and a large pepperoni. They were basically the same size. Both small.
The buffalo chicken pizza was inedible. So incredibly spicy none of us could eat it. I had even looked up pictures from previous customers to see what it looked like and ours didnt resemble it. It was like the marinara was replaced with hot sauce. The pepperoni pizza was tough, smushed so it wasn't a circle and the sauce was not good.
I called to mention it and got a little attitude from the order taker. She said a new person was in training. I understand that will happen - but wouldn't there be a little quality control to make sure what was leaving the restaurant was correct? She offered to put me on with the manager (wasn’t my idea) and when the manager picked up I could hear the order girl complaining in the background. 😂 The manager got on and said the same thing and offered a discount when I come back.
Unfortunately, it was so unappealing in taste, looks and how it was handled - we...
Read moreMy favorite pizzeria. As I child I came in with my grandma every Friday. I remember coloring on the backs of the big piece of paper with the businesses on it. I remember learning the names of the people there and learning how to cut my food on my own. Every week pope’s pizza was my dinner Friday night, and my breakfast Saturday morning. I remember the crispy crunch and the browned cheese on top, perfectly cooked. I always took any leftover crusts my grandma didn’t want. After I moved these Friday dinners stoped, but my love for this pizzeria didn’t. Any time I visit I make sure to pick up 2 slices (one for then and one for another meal). Every time I eat a slice I remember all the joys and community I felt there. Even if I didn’t have these memories I would still recommend this place. Their slices or full pizzas are affordable, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming and the service is always...
Read moreMy experience with this pizzeria has been as warm and kind (kindness is delicious, right? It makes us all smile!) as timeless, classic pizza is - the people here are kind and compassionate, and I just know you can taste it in their food. Everybody knows the greatest pizzas are made with love, and that it's worth the price. Don't fall for the bad service reviews - people are allowed to have difficult days, and it isn't a reflection of you personally unless you're a deliberately rude, entitled, arrogant or demanding individual who lacks self-awareness and accountability - it's a reflection of their own struggle. You should try this pizza, because it's made by good, honest, hardworking people who care about themselves and their loved ones - and by extension through art and hard work of their craft - you. The overall reviews don't lie. Try...
