Greeted by multiple cash only and peanut warning signs, I entered the doors of the Biergarten in Schenectady. Upon entering the quaint little bar on Erie Boulevard I was overwhelmed by the smells of freshly fried schnitzel and german sausages cooking on the grill.
As I walked up to the bar I was greeted by a kind man who seemed to be a victim of the Benjamin Button disease. He claimed to be 40 but looked not a day older than 22. This man's name was Steven Rose. He offered me a liter of Hofbräu- one of Germany's finest beers. I watched as he masterfully poured the golden liquid straight from the tap into my handcrafted locally blown glass mug. I took the first sip and I felt the serenity and calm of the amber liquid wash over my body and fill me with joy and love and happiness.
I then followed my nose until I reached the kitchen counter. I was greeted by a loud and boisterous young Mexican girl who not only took my order but also cooked my sandwich to perfection. The insides were juicy and delicious while the outer layer was cooked to a perfect degree of crispness. It was complemented by fries that had been tossed in the most delicious blend of seasoning. I was offered ketchup but immediately declined so as not to taint the spectacular flavor profile given to the fries by the gods of everything culinary.
I was in bliss. The Biergarten was everything I had dreamed of and more. I immediately phoned my lawyer and asked him to edit my entire family out of my will and leave everything in my estate solely to Steven and his team at the Biergarten. If you're in the Schenectady area look no further than Erie Boulevard for the best food and...
Read moreWorst bar service and event oversight ever experienced. We went to this bar for a wedding after-party. Several large groups of our wedding party was let in by the bouncer and we were there for over an hour before another wedding party showed up and we were kicked out. This was ridiculous because not only did the bouncer let us in when we gave the last names of the bride and groom for OUR wedding party, they had every opportunity to tell us to leave and find a different bar for at least an hour instead of kicking us out in a rush.
The bartender was also extremely rude and unprofessional (large bald man). Before it was busy, several of us had ordered at different times and had the same experience with this bartender going off and chatting or doing something else after getting our order. When we wanted to close out the tab of the bride and groom for our wedding party after being abruptly kicked out, they refused saying they were too busy serving the wedding party that was kicking us out.
While I understand that the other wedding party reserved the bar ahead of time and did not want outsiders in, the bar service and the complete oversight of the bouncer/bar to check if people were from the correct wedding party made this the worst experience. It was a shame this location was a complete flop as we had a bachelorette party in the Albany location of this bar and had a...
Read moreFirst time visiting and the last. 6 people - meals ordered and paid in full. 3 meals came out and were eaten before the other 3 meals made it to the table. Upon getting up and walking out to the parking lot. The staff asked. The bouncer who was off duty to get us because we didn’t pay our bill for one of the Reuben’s. How embarrassing! I went in and advised I paid in full - order was still written on my phone. They said I only originally paid for 5 meals and just one Reuben. They printed out the original receipt for me when I questioned them. I paid for the 2!d Reuben and asked how I was supposed to know that they failed to charge me. The girl who brought the Reuben to you was supposed to tell you. Need to our table. Didn’t I notice that the Reuben came later? Well no, because 1/2 the meals came later Then they had another excuse that there was only one person in the kitchen. We were not told that there was another bill for us to pay. Wish I never gave the tip up front for the $83 bill. The staff was rude, snippy and unapologetic for their failure to charge us the first around. And not to mention the embarrassment of being chased down in the parking lot to inform us we didn’t pay. I wasn’t going to bother to write anything but thought that if I owned this business I would want to know how rudely my customer...
