Armory Studios NY — Local services in City of Schenectady

What a cool space! It was our first time visiting, and they are currently hosting The Art of the Brick exhibit. You don’t need to be a Lego fan to appreciate the artwork—the creativity and craftsmanship are incredible! We had timed tickets, which made the visit so much more enjoyable since it wasn’t overcrowded.

I was surprised that it was more mature than I expected, with deeper themes like despair and masking that really resonated for me. It took us about 40 minutes to walk through the entire exhibit at a comfortable pace.

We loved the “Instagram” spot for photos, and at the very end there’s a kid-friendly section with a digital interactive activity, Lego arcade games, and a small brick pit. Such a fun way to end the visit!

Overall, we really enjoyed the experience and highly recommend it. My only complaint is that it was a bit tricky to find the parking lot, but that may just be because we’re not locals to...

We traveled from Syracuse to Schenectady to see the Van Gogh Immersion project and it was well worth the ride. I have always loved Van Gogh Paintings, but to get a chance to view so many and to hear the story behind each was great. Then the actual immersion into some of his painting and the explanation or again the story behind the colors, who knew he was color blind, and to feel you are in the paintings was something I could never have imagined. An 18 year old accompanied me and was blown away when she told me she had read a book about him and Paul Gaugin!! Kids today surprise you.

Free and safe parking was a plus. Separate entrance for the disabled or those not able to climb the steps into the Armory...

Went to visit the new Van Gogh Immersive Experience. The entire experience, from entrance to exit, was amazing. The history of Van Gogh's 37 year life is well documented and the visual exhibits are amazing. There is a Japanese tea station right at the entrance, as a nod to Van Gogh's later inspirations. Immediately on display are his popular paintings of Starry Night, Sunflowers, and Lilies. One of the highlights for the kids is a station where they can color one of six popular paintings in whichever colors they want and then have it scanned and placed up on the wall. Overall a very good experience, especially if you have a budding artist...
