[DO NOT GET SCAMMED!] When I walked in, there were multiple signs (pic 1) saying the mini aloha combo was BOGO 50% off, only $19.99. Both my friend and I understood it as the price of a combo is $19.99, so two combos would be about $30. I thought it was weirdly cheap but assumed it was because they ordered too much stock. When I ordered, my waitress went to go check with the manager to confirm they were doing this deal. When I got my first check, it was for $90+, everything was full price. When I asked the waitress why the bill was so high and showed her pic 1, she went to find her manager and got it changed to the receipt in pic 3. When I asked about the deal, the manager was extremely rude and condescending, saying that everyone else understood it correctly, if I misunderstood the deal, then she doesn’t what to tell me. When I asked to speak to someone higher up, she said “well, I’m the manager”. When I asked who wrote the deal, she said the owners. I then asked for the owners email because I would like explain that the deal is worded unclearly and suggest they reword it. She said “They are Chinese, they don’t speak English, only Chinese”. To which I replied “I speak Chinese” (I’m Chinese btw). She said “Good for you”. She then gave me a phone number to the store and said “you can call the store but I’m the manager”. She had a horrible attitude the entire interaction.
What I would like to have happened: They could’ve worded this deal better, and when I brought up my misunderstanding and asked for clarification, they could’ve been more polite and professional and just explained what it meant instead of giving me attitude.
Positives from my experience: the waitress was extremely nice and professional, they had her working 8+ tables so the service was a bit slow, but she was running around getting food and drinks and checks to everyone. The shrimp, calamari and sweet potato fries were good (I’ve been here many times before and these are my go tos)
Negatives: snow crab clusters are a hit or miss, last time I got them they were very watery and were not fresh. This time was a lot better (only got it because of the deal)
Overall the food is good, and definitely worth the price (I would, and did, gladly pay the price for today’s meal, the whole interaction happened after I had agreed to pay). I went on open table and it had time slots open, I picked 7:15 but hit there a little earlier. I asked for a table for 3 the one name Tiffa ( I may be spelling her name wrong) said she was starting a wait list. It would be about 30 minutes would I still like to stay. I said yes and gave her my phone number. I moved over and sat to the side. There was a man that very friendly smiling and greeting people as they walked in. At about 7:12 the gentle man came over and asked if we were waiting for a table I said yes then told him don’t worry because I have a reservation with open table for 7:15pm. I walked back up to the front at 7:15 and the woman Tiffa walked over to me and said I don’t have a table I will call you when we have one. I tried to explain to her that I had a reservation with open table at 7:15 she nasty told me that’s a third party app it has nothing to do with the restaurant. I then tried to ask her why is she saying there is no tables when the gentle man that works here says there are table, open table is dying there are table and I’m looking at about 10 open tables with my own eyes. She said you can leave because I will not be seating you. But that wasn’t ok to me. So I said to her I understand that you’re frustrated because we are all human but that not how you treat people. I said I’m a nurse and as flustered as I may get I never treat people the way she treating me. She proceeded to say that the guy that told me there were tables was just a bus boy and didn’t know anything. Degrading him, he’s part of the team and without him cleaning tables the team would be moving much slower. Read moreI’ve been to this place a few times this restaurant is actually my favorite place to go with no issues prior. My husband and I went out to celebrate our anniversary and his birthday last night and my king crab was over cooked and I was okay I just needed help cutting it because the shell was so soft and I couldnt break it. They offered to cook a new one and I declined, because I did get it open by stabbing it. I’m doing 3 stars because the manager lady or owners behavior towards her staff was inappropriate. when we walked in she had an upset face on and everytime she walked back to get a to go order you could tell she wasn’t happy. when the situation with the crab happened she marched to the back and I could hear her screaming at the cooks in the back! I was appalled! I have worked in the food industry as a server in the past and I just knew that everyone was now walking on egg shells and I felt horrible!! So horrible that we didn’t finish our food and we left. I feel bad for the cooks that have to deal with that behavior from management and they deserve better. And I hope the cooks read this and know that they are doing a great job and people mess up and it’s something they can learn from for next time. Also My server was sweet and kind!
A few tips for management. Be happy even if your not. Don’t let the stress of the job rub off on your staff and customers. Keep calm and breathe because life is short and this is just Dead Sea creatures! (Ha) You can’t be perfect and the food won’t always be perfect. You can have high expectations with respect to your staff. Please don’t take this review and make it worse for your staff, but take it as a learning opportunity for you.
