We’ve eaten takeout from here several times. The chicken has always been on the dry side—we tolerated the chicken as part of a combo, since the rib are usually excellent.
Had our first post-COVID get-together with food from here and disappointed our guests. The ribs were a step down from usual, and they refused to give a combo of flavors, insulting my wife for arriving late for a pickup: “you should have been on time, and you would have gotten what you wanted.”
(I always thought ordering in advance meant food would be cooked as ordered, and we picking it up late just meant we took responsibility for the freshness not the actually food type—I guess Ribs on the Run is getting enough business that they can afford to lose ours.)
Anyway, guests complained. Chicken was far drier than usual. So dry. Almost all chicken remained. Gonna try to salvage it as ingredient in another dish. Luckily, I had prepared Korean short ribs just in case the caterer let us down.
I and my short ribs saved the day! (Was worth spending the time and energy and being apart from the party to see the smiles on our guests’ faces as they saw the short ribs come off the grill and dove in to flavor that surmounted Ribs on the Run.) Why order out if we can have better at home? Just need to rally and cook rather than have our day tainted by Ribs on the Run.
Sides were smaller quantity than expected, but that wasn’t such a bother.
Decline in food quality. Condescending customer service. DRY chicken AGAIN and ever worse than before.
Won’t be going back. Recommend: the several other BBQ places in the New Rochelle...
Read moreSo, I hate to write negative reviews (and I typically don’t write reviews at all), but this experience was absolutely nuts – literally the worst dining experience I’ve had in many years (and I go out a lot!).
First, the pictures on their website showing plates and tables without scratches is very misleading. The food is served in Styrofoam containers with holes poked in them. The sides are served in the smallest little Styrofoam cups I’ve ever seen (I wish I had a picture – it was beyond belief!).
The restaurant was FREEZING (there was a thermostat on the wall – 52 degrees!!!). We got there at 6pm on a Friday, so it wasn’t like they just opened. There were two of us in the restaurant when we got there – me and my son. Still, the food took almost 25 minutes to arrive. There was some guy in the kitchen periodically screaming at the top of his lungs (I think there was a game on).
On top of this, the food was not very good (we both got ribs, which is what the cashier suggested). They were fairly flavorless and lots of cartilage. The sides in their tiny cups were awful (we got French fries, mashed potatoes, cole slaw, and macaroni salad).
We finished our meal and I brought our Styrofoam containers to the counter – at which point a man behind the counter said “the garbage cans are by the bathrooms” … huh?!?
On top of this, two rib dinners and drinks cost us $45.
Is there anything less than one star?!?!?!?
If you hate running a restaurant, then don't run a restaurant! What's the point in trying this hard to make your customers...
Read moreIf you haven't had a meal from Ribs on the Run, you are TRULY missing out. There are SO many restaurants that serve "ribs" which have been cooked the day before and are dried out to the point where you are lucky if you can rip the sliver of meat from the bone. NOT SO at Ribs on the Run! Juicy, tender, succulent, perfectly cooked ribs with the right amount of smokey, fall-off-the-bone perfection you're looking for in an order of ribs tucked away in a strip mall (all of this without mentioning the amazing fries and sides that go along with the ribs!!!). I was surprised there wasn't a line out the door the food was THAT good! This place is my new favorite rib joint and there's no way it won't be yours as well.
10 out of 10--NO NOTES!!! Thank you Ribs on the Run! You're doing it SO right!!!
P.s. It was my birthday when we visited and it was the PERFECT pre-cake meal.
P.p.s. In the photo, I had already eaten one of the ribs before I took the picture. I couldn't wait and I wasn't disappointed. I chose fries as both of my sides with my meal. ...
