I recently ordered from Epstein's Deli in Hartsdale, NY, after being encouraged to order directly through them to avoid fees. I placed an online order at 5:00 PM with a promised delivery time of 5:45 PM. However, the delivery was significantly delayed. After contacting them at 5:50 PM and 6:00 PM, I was informed that the driver had too many orders, leading to an additional hour-long wait. This meant my food would be in transit for over an hour and a half.
I expressed my frustration and asked for a refund, which they assured me they processed, but I haven't received it yet. Despite the inconvenience, the manager didn't offer any compensation like a gift card or coupon for a future visit. It's disappointing that their request to order directly conflicted with their ability to handle timely deliveries. Additionally, I'm concerned that this may violate Uber Eats' terms of service placing notices in bags.
This experience has left me dissatisfied with Epstein's Deli. While the food might be good, the poor handling of this situation and lack of proper customer service make me hesitant to order from them again. It's disheartening when operational issues overshadow an otherwise positive...
Read moreMy wife and I stopped in for lunch 12/27, specifically for pastrami sandwiches. For a deli which touts it's pastrami quality, we were extremely disappointed. We ordered the "traditional" pastrami, which is the pastrami with the fat. The waitress appeared to very disinterested in her job, but was not rude. Just slow and wearing a sour look. We ordered our sandwich on rye, with sour kraut. The soda fountain was down, we were told, so unlimited soda for$3.50 was not available. But a single can was, for $2.50. We ordered a side of onion rings, which came very over done, almost blackened. And room temperature. The sandwich arrived and had maybe one tablespoon sized dollop of kraut, not nearly enough to even cover the meat, nevermind meet the standard. The pastrami was fatty, which is as it should be. But it was also very grizzely. So much so that taking a single bite of the sandwich was impossible without getting into a tug of war with the rest of it. Eventually, we tried utensils, but it was hopeless. $38...
Read moreI went to Epstein's over the holiday weekend and placed a take out order for my family. I had a written list that I physically provided the guy behind the counter. I went ahead to also verbally give my order, item by item. He even repeated what I said. Unfortunately I didn't bother to check what was bagged until I got home. To my dismay, he gave 8 slices of rye bread instead of the 14 slices which again was written down on the paper and also said to him and repeated back to me. I had called them immediately and the cashier promised the Owner will be calling me. Needless to say the Owner never called me. I waited several days and followed up and finally spoke with him. He gave me an excuse saying, "these things happen" and didn't even attempt to make things right. Note to the Owner: this is not how you maintain business and keep customers happy. Don't waste your time, we certainly...
