I came here on a date and had no expectations whatsoever. The interior is really nice and cozy. It almost feels like you're in someone's home. We were greeted by the waitress at the bar and got to sit wherever we liked. There were two other tables seated as well. We were given menus and water and quickly decided what we wanted to order, but we ended up waiting about 15-20 minutes after getting the menu to actually place our order. Our waitress seemed busy with the other tables. We ordered the Catfish Nuggets and the Jerk Chicken Egg Rolls to start. For entrees my date got Jerk Chicken Pasta with Grilled shrimp, and I got the Po' Boy Sandwich with Jerk Chicken. After we ordered, it took over an hour for us to receive our appetizers. Our waitress wasn't anywhere to be found, and in the moments we saw her briefly, she walked past us without saying a word. No update on our food or anything. We figured that maybe she was busy with the other two tables, but the table beside us had already gotten their entrees, and the other table only had four patrons, so we couldn't understand why it took so long for just the appetizers.
Eventually we got our appetizers and the Jerk Chicken egg rolls looked a bit overcooked. The waitress apologized for the wait upon bringing our food, and even opted to give us an extra Jerk Chicken Egg Roll appetizer to make up for the time waiting. Unfortunately, while my date was a fan of the Egg Rolls, I wasn't a fan at all. I thought the flavor was very light, and there wasn't much spice at all. Figured it was just me. The Catfish Nuggets were superb however, and the sauce they brought with it paired very nicely.
The entrees came soon after we received our appetizers. This is where things get interesting. My date was a big fan of her pasta, but she loved the shrimp. I wasn't a big fan of my Po Boy Sandwich. It was okay but left a lot to be desired. She tried the sandwich and agreed. I thought her pasta was pretty good honestly, and the shrimp was fantastic. The food ove was hit or miss flavor wise. The portions were pretty good considering the price and the area.
Overall, this restaurant is pretty hard to recommend. The service was mediocre at best, and the food was mostly lackluster. Pricing for everything seemed fair overall, but the hour long wait didn't sit well with either of us. I honestly would've given this place two stars, but I gave the additional third star because the waitress did apologize for the wait (without a reason, but hey it's something) and did give us a free appetizer. But even with that, of the four items we ordered, we both only really enjoyed two of them. Perhaps we'll return to give them a second shot, but I can't recommend this...
Read moreCame to Yonkers, NY from Southern Virginia (Blackstone) and had no expectations but to just get away from the country for a quick weekend and celebrate; unwind and attend a birthday party for a loved one. Searching for places to eat and possibly have cocktails as well, “Off the Hook” came up and we decided to give it a try. (Me being pescatarian, this was right up my alley) we walk in and BOOM! Immediate VIBE. A feeling of warmth on such a breezy day. The service was top tier from start to finish. Customer service like no other. Brandon explained the menu well and made our experience overall a welcoming one. We ordered a mass amount of food to say the least, various sides and dishes. The drinks came quickly and kicked in just as quick. Absolutely delicious. Then came that pound cake sized corn bread with real corn in it. My GOD today! An absolute treasure. The music was on point. R&B was super pleasing and nostalgic in more ways than one. For a party of 5, women aging from 31-64 this was definitely an amazing choice without question. Honestly, my only “negative” review would be towards the cabbage, (I could be just use to a softer cooked cabbage) but it was crunchy like cap n crunch cereal. To be raw, Brandon was upper echelon , just attentive and ever so professional. This hidden gem is most def OFF THE HOOK without question! Listen, kool-aid was on the menu and that warmed my inner child like no other. Music: 10/10 Appetizers: 8.5/10 Food: 9/ 10 Drinks: 9.5 /10 Overall Experience : 10/10 most definitely recommend. I can’t explain enough that if you haven’t been there, you’re definitely missing out. If you’re ever in the area, by all means don’t cheat...

MY SECOND TIME. KARAOKE NIGHT
MY ORDER: CATFISH NUGGET, CORNBREAD COMPLIMENTARY, SIDE OF RICE, 2 orders of SIDE OF SHRIMP and COLLARD GREENS. French Fries! BEVERAGE: GINGER ALE
NOW for the next remaining mass reviews. They will be extremely short because I am currently experiencing a “writer’s block” feeling unmotivated due to a series of events today.
So during that day, I couldn’t recall what made my decision to visit “Off The Hook” restaurant. Keep in mind this IS MY SECOND TIME visiting this place.
Overall once again the atmosphere, the vibe, the cleanliness of this restaurant is ALWAYS perfect. From the bathroom, dining area. Everything is kept clean and well maintained.
The staff are always on top of everything. Entertaining, professionalism and consistency. Not with just me but with every patrons!
My entire order from the catfish nuggets constantly tasting fresh to PERFECTION after every bite is good. My SHRIMP the right amount of just everything! From the seasoning to batter. The rice…..TASTED LIKE RICE!!! You absolutely cannot mess up rice…”Off The Hook” did NOT! The French Fries was crispy, my collard greens tasted tangy and just literally what collard greens is suppose to taste like! The entire meal was cooked professionally with love and perfection! My only complaint is that the order of rice was suppose to be “rice and beans” but instead I was given collard greens…. WHICH IS FINE!! No worries
