Shah's Halal Food Yonkers — Restaurant in City of Yonkers

My daughter and I visited last evening for some take out platters and were impressed by the quality of the food, the prices and the level of service. We walked in and found a single counter guy and a single guy in the kitchen, with the counter guy helping a middle eastern family with their stay-in order. He got to us in a few minutes and then assembled our take out order (two lamb platters over rice, a mixed chicken and lamb platter over rice and an order of falafel). While we were being helped, a large middle eastern family of about ten people came in. The kitchen guy immediately came out and started helping out. I was impressed by that level of service. We had to wait a few min for our falafel but we managed to leave in about 10 minutes overall. More importantly, all the orders were correct with no missing items. The food was very tasty and far better than the Halal Guys locations in Westchester, which sometimes seems to run out of rice (!) or containers and where the lamb and chicken seem more greasy. And I was happy to see middle eastern people eating at Shah's; that makes me believe it is authentic quality food, compared to some sort of "fast food" that I would rather skip. Also have to say how nice their salad options are. For one of the orders, I asked for the salad "on the side" in another container and the mix they gave me (salad leaves, cucumber, hummus, onion, chickpeas) was delicious and plentiful. The restaurant was clean, with basic seating areas but overall a nice, pleasing aesthetic, no loud music to bother you as you enjoy your food. Decided to stop for lunch with hubby after our monthly appointment a few blocks away, and we are SO glad we did! The location is great, with plenty of parking, and inside is spacious and spotless! The people working here are super friendly and knowledgable about all of their food. We both got chicken over rice, Hubby had Lamb and chicken on his, some pitas, with some salad and sautéed onions on the side. I have to add the prices were surprisingly affordable for all the food we got, I took half of mines home I had so much I couldn't finish it! They offer packets of white sauce or hot sauce in case you're like me and want to add little bye little as you eat. Oh and omggg get the GREEN SAUCE! Its a cilantro sauce with a little bite to it and its sooo good I put it on everything! After we were done, we got an extra plate to take home to our son who was in school at the time and boy oh boy was he happy when he came home from school and ate! He asked me afterwards, where did we get the food and how soon can he go with is next time, commenting on how good it was :) Our server Jose suggested we try it because we never had it before and wow....it was great! He's for sure an asset to this establishment, personable and professional also. We woke up today, planning our next visit and how much we are going to buy to take home as well! Ohh wait i forgot,,, they have a larger white sauce you can buy to take home and ohh yeah baby we sure did :)

Shahs will for sure be our stop every time we are in this area!! ok,,who am i kidding,... we may make some trips all the way from the northern...
