From the moment I stepped through the inconspicuous entrance of The Trap Door, I was transported back to the glamour and intrigue of the Prohibition era. Located in the charming town of Clare, Michigan, this modern-day speakeasy combines the allure of the past with the sophistication of the present, creating an unforgettable experience for anyone seeking a night to remember.

Upon entering, I was immediately struck by the attention to detail that had been invested into the bar's design. The dim lighting, sumptuous velvet seating, and vintage-inspired decor exuded an air of mystery and romance. The staff, dressed in period attire, were welcoming and attentive, ensuring that my visit was nothing short of exceptional.

In conclusion, The Trap Door is a must-visit establishment for anyone seeking a unique, sophisticated night out in Clare, Michigan. The combination of a captivating atmosphere, impeccable service, and a top-notch drink selection make it deserving of a full five stars. Whether you're a history buff, cocktail connoisseur, or simply looking for an extraordinary evening, The Trap Door is sure to deliver a ravishing experience that will leave you craving more. But the experience goes beyond the impressive drinks menu; The Trap Door is the ideal venue for socializing and celebrating with friends. The atmosphere promotes conversation and camaraderie, making it easy to lose track of time as the hours slip by in the company of good friends and...

The night we went to The Trap Door my girlfriend and I dressed up to try the new Speakeasy we just heard about. The interior and warm welcome we received on entering set a fantastic tone from the outset.

However, that night there was a sorority party being conducted at The Venue above, the raucous party and noise was extremely loud and polluted the atmosphere to the point we nearly left before ordering. ( No one who goes to a speakeasy style bar wants to hear blaring rap music)

But, after we got our first drink, interacted with Sara the manager and the bartenders we decided to stick it out and we are very glad we did. We were treated to some of the best cocktails and service we have had in all of Michigan. The charcuterie/cheese board was huge and fantastic and prices were well worth the experience. We will be back and will be bringing friends.

I would suggest you call ahead to make sure there isn't something crazy going on at The...

This is a place I will go every once in awhile, but prices are high and portions are small. The cocktails are unique and quite good. The Berry bubblebath was my favorite.

The food is tasty, but way overpriced. The spicy feta dip was delish, but the pita provided was only enough for half of the dip. We asked for extra pita and were told it would be an extra $2. The pitas are the sabra minis and we were given 8 extra... The fondue was $20 and was warm melted, not hot milk chocolate chips. There were 7 banana slices, 4 strawberries cut in half, 4 bite size pieces of angel food, and 4 Pretzel rods....

My husband was given the wrong drink, never recieved the correct one, and it was left on the bill. It was a busy night and everything took a looong time so I didn't fight it.

Although it's a speakeasy expect a loud environment. It's got the ambiance of other speakeasys I've been too, but none of the...

The Trap Door reminds me of an orchestral piece. One can wax lyrical of the cocktails (magical, service (immaculate) ambiance (comfortable) and food (exquisite). This is an esthetically pleasing establishment. Great variety of food with high quality presentation, service and inventiveness. The bar manager, Tom at this establishment is obviously experienced in mixology with cocktails coupled with managerial experience. A highlight of our experience, however, was, our server Samantha. She is extremely polite, attentively wonderful, knowledgable, funny and very friendly. She had other tables but never failed to make sure we didn't need anything; made our visit much nicer; made us feel like family. We will definitely be going back when we are in town for excellent cocktails, food and service! I appreciate attention to details; orchid flower in my drink. Tom and Samantha, can't wait to see you both again!

The bartenders were excellent. Cool atmosphere! Drinks were crafted with excellence! I decided to get a Smoked Old Fashion on round two. Decided to have Four Roses Single barrel over Elijah Graig Bourbon. The sign behind the bar said for a "little more " or something to that directive on selecting a bourbon of your choice. Smoked old fashion Elijah Craig $14, Smoked old fashion with Four Roses single barrel + $18...hmmm...a $32 Smoked Old Fashion? I Drink Four 🌹's as my go too Bourbon. Buy it all day for $45 off the shelf. An $18 upcharge is a bit excessive in my opinion. Looks like Trap Door is a one and done destination.
