I have a lake house about twenty minutes from Clare. My friends and I got breakfast 2 days in a row. The first time we ate here our waitress was friendly and normal. The second time we ate our waitress was extremely rude. I know that her name is Ava from our receipt/check. Hopefully the manager can re-train her because I would not want someone with her attitude working at my establishment/business. I’ve worked in the food service industry for over three years so I try to be extra considerate. However, when we walked into the cafe we weren’t greeted by anyone and since it’s sit yourself I asked if my group could sit outside if they have availability for six. We walked outside and sat and two tables had dirty plates on them, that I eventually ended up moving myself because they never got picked up and flies were swarming by the plates. We had to ask three times for silver ware and twice for cups of water. Our waitress never greeted us either when first coming to the table. We ordered blueberry pancakes and she brought out a blueberry waffle. She never said sorry for the mistake or asked if we wanted what we actually ordered. All she said was “it’s a blueberry waffle I guess” and then walked away. Then a group member ordered a bacon, cheese omelette. Instead we got one with ham, sausage, and green peppers. We asked if we could get it remade and she took it back without apologizing for the mistake once again. We didn’t receive the new omelette by the time we all were done eating so I asked our waitress to take it off the check. She thought this meant we didn’t want it at all. In reality, I was saying that I wanted it off the check, that we would not be paying for it, and that we still wanted the correct omelette we ordered. She said that if we want it we have to pay for it so I asked for a manager. The manager immediately took the omelette off my receipt after I explained the situation. She was much kinder and friendly than our waitress. In addition to these various issues, we got double charged on our checks. My friend and I shared a coffee flight and we both got charged the full amount for it. I got a large drink and so did she. We were then both charged for the 2 drinks on each separate check instead of one drink each. Our waitress never apologized for her multiple mistakes or rude manner, attitude, and behavior. She also never pre-bussed a single dirty plate while walking back inside with empty hands. Despite my frustration, I still cleaned our table and stacked all our plates. I hope if I return to this cafe again, I experience standard...
Read moreI would give this place 3.5 stars. I pulled off of the freeway to look for a place to get some breakfast. Upon entering, I noticed right away how clean and updated this place looked. I liked the fact that the tables were spaced out real good, allowing for lots of room. It was seat yourself and the waitress came over right away with a menu. I ordered two eggs over medium with potatoes, bacon, and toast. Also a cup of regular coffee and a glass of water. She brought my coffee right away but there wasn't any cream at the table. When I asked her for some, she pointed to area and said to just go up there and get it (I just thought that was kind of odd). The food arrived in a reasonable amount of time, the eggs were cooked to perfection, the potatoes were good but not great, the bacon was real thin, wasn't real impressed with that, got four pieces of really awesome toast that was already buttered, but after she left I noticed that there wasn't any jelly on the table, and I caught the waitress on my way to get my 2nd cup of coffee, I asked her for some jelly, she seemed very surprised that I asked for that but said that she would get my some. She brought some jelly right away, but I was surprised that she scooped some into a small stainless steel cup. Just thought if that was the case, she might have asked what flavor I wanted. I like lots of different flavors and the jelly was really good, not a big deal, but just seemed odd. Oh by the way, the coffee was excellent! I will probably take the wife here for lunch and dinner to see how that is. Looks like they have a good selection of beverages, but it was too early in the...
Read moreSo I gave 4 stars because the restaurant was really cute and modern. The food on the other hand was pretty much unediable.I ordered the croissant breakfast sandwich and my husband the st Patrick's Day special corned beef hash eggs over easy with toast. When she brought the order he got scrambled eggs which were brown and over cooked. They fixed the order but even the over easy eggs were brown and overcooked, the toast was over buttered and soggy, and the hash was greasy and my husband said it tasted like they had cooked it ahead and then stuck it in the microwave to heat it up.My croissant was unediable. It was supposed to be eggs, cheese, bacon and pesto on a toasted butter croissant. They microwaved the croissant so it was this flat mushy mess.I ended up taking the filling out and just eating that.It came with redskin potatoes again mushy and they were cold. When the waitress came over to ask how our breakfast was I told. Her response.oh sorry took our plates away and end of story.Would'nt even come back to give us our bill. Would not have a good recommendation...
