The Evening Post Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Clare

One of the worst restaurants/bars I have ever wasted money at in many years. I ordered a bowl of chili that was sour with ground beef that tasted rancid. Hardly any spice to it. The waiter brought out a spoon that was not washed. It was enough to gag a maggot. The bacon-chicken wrap wasn't bad but there were a couple of times it had that funky flavor chicken can sometimes have from fats on the meat. I would give the wrap a 7 out of 10. Service was good, no complaints. While paying the bill I peeked over the tall counter and it confirmed more stomach churning realities as the grill and stove looked filthy. In fact, the restaurant itself looked pretty dirty. As I left this dive I hoped and prayed I wouldn't get food poisoning and thankfully all I had was a slight churning in the gut. If you are ever in Clare, Michigan and find yourself hungry, I would encourage you to flee from this dump and go to a restaurant with quality food. I will say it did look like they had some tasty IPA's but since I gave up beer it's a moot point. I can only hope that someday this place is shut down by the board of health...

A customer had to help with the door husband in a wheelchair then I told my husband I dont think you will fit all the bar stools were sideways I looked at 3 waitresses and a cook just stood there no one accommodateed us I said i will move them myself a young waitress walks over and says ( well I cant read minds) I said excuse me ? We got to the back I told my husband im not comfortable eating here we turned around started to the front another waitress gave us a mean look I said im not into addtude ( she yelled in front of all the other customers WE ARE NOT ETHIER BYE) WE ARE 65YRS OLD THESE WOMEN WERE PROBABLY 20s30s i couldn't believe what was happening we got to our truck across the street in the parking lot a waitress came Out saying something while my handicap husband getting out of his wheelchair I said did you hear what that girl said to me she said ( WELL SHE CANT READ MINDS )😡😤 IM BOILING AT THIS POINT WE JUST WANTED CHICKEN WINGS ITS BEEN 3 YEARS....VERY UNPROFESSIONAL STAFF ...WE ENDED UP AT DORTEY HOTEL WHAT A DIFFERENT CLASS OF PEOPLE 🥰...BOBS CHICKEN SURE CHANGED...

Friendly little bar with great food and good prices. We stopped for lunch and picked them for the broasted chicken. Really good , fresh from the fryer and not greasy. The potatoes that come with it are really big - a 1/4 of a large size potato wedges deep fried. I was disappointed that they didn’t offer a special sauce for those wedges. The burger was good but not done enough for the hubs. Needs to come out hot off the grill and cooked to order. We both ordered macaroni salad and it wasn’t great. Packed tightly in a styrofoam cup and dry and tasted like it had tuna or something in it. We were full and our waitress- who I think was the boss or owner was very kind and that made it all ok. Go for the chicken and wedges! They are great! I hope they use these notes as constructive and not criticism.
