Phillippo's Pizza — Restaurant in Clark

Unfortunately, I have to write this review and give it the lowest star rating, which is not something I normally do. Let me start by saying BEWARE of ordering delivery from here. I ordered from this place 3 times in Feb. and 2 out of the 3 times, they double charged my debit card. Thank God I noticed on the second time because I did not notice on the first time (which was almost a month before). When I noticed, I quickly called and asked for a manager. I explained they had charged me twice on TWO separate occasions and the manager told me they would to check the credit card receipts. He told me when this happens, usually within 1-3 business days it is refunded (this is due to them double charging if you add a tip on the card when the delivery comes). I told them it has been well past 1-3 days, seeing as the first double charge occurred almost a month earlier. He then told me he would have to check and call me back.

I waited a day and did not hear back from them so I figured I would call and follow-up. I spoke with (I'm assuming) the owner and he explained he would not be at his office until that Friday (two days later) to check the receipts and credit card statement. When I finally heard from the owner, he told me there were no receipts with my order and that he called the credit card company but there were no charges with my debit card number on those days.

Now, since they charged me twice for each order, there (in theory) would be a credit card receipt from the first charge and the second charge after I added tip for the delivery person. Essentially (and conveniently might I add) 4 receipts are "missing" and there is no record of the charges on the credit card machine. I even explained this seemed shady and requested him to check other days to see if he could figure out the charges. Eventually, after I was told it would take too long, I offered to email him my bank account statement clearly stating their name and phone number to prove they charged my card two extra times.

The best part is, the owner told me THAT THIS HAPPENS SOMETIMES and they can usually find the receipts when someone calls to complain about the second charge. I have a major issue with this because they are obviously doing this to people and only the ones who are noticing and call about the double charge will get there money back. They're basically double dipping on these delivery orders, which is completely wrong! PLEASE check your card statements and beware of these charges. The owner did "rectify" my situation and refunded me my money but it took days and he made me feel like I am some kind of liar until I showed the bank statements. I am really disappointed that this could be happening to people without them knowing. The fact that the owner is aware this is happening but is not stopping it is appalling. To them, why would they stop it when I'm sure they are making extra money when people don't notice the extra charge. If the owner wanted to rectify the situation, why don't you ask if the customer wants to leave a tip while you take the order on the phone and add it to the bill while you're on the phone with the customer to avoid "double charging"??

I absolutely do not feel comfortable ordering from them anymore since this double charging "just happens sometimes" and they are not interested in preventing it. No thank you and...

We are on a mission to find the best Margarita, Grandma, & Grandpa Pizza in North Jersey! We gave Phillipo's Pizza, Clark, NJ a try. We ordered Margarita and Sicilian pies. Up first the Margarita: this was a very good margarita pie, sauce was very fresh, not too much fresh mozzarella, fresh basil, and the dough was cooked very well. The only negative was that the dough was a little dry, it didn't have that fresh taste. Overall, a very good pie and we would try this again to see if they had an "öff night" with the dough.

The surprise of the night was the Sicilian. Upon opening the box, what did we find? A GRANDPA PIZZA! Yes, without even asking they automatically make a grandpa style (upside down pizza) as their Scillian! The mozzarella is melted perfectly, the fresh sauce on top, drizzled with parmesan, seasoning, and garlic. A very fresh taste and, unfortunately, one down side... the dough. This, too, had a dry taste where its very close to being crispy but misses the mark. It is very hard to not give this 5 stars alone based on the surprise we received and the overall taste. Once again, we will have to try this again.

Onto the next pizzeria, we are trying one every Friday night. What else is there to do during this pandemic? Any suggestions on what pizzeria we should try next......
