Despite its dimly light, dark atmosphere, Kyoto was one of the most friendly and inviting establishments in the area.
While staying the hotel down the street, I took a walk on over to Kyoto. I had a craving for Asian food (in particular, sushi), and saw that this place was open. I can't say how pleasantly surprised I was when my friend I were greeted so warmly after our long-ish walk over.
We were sat immediately in a relatively secluded dining area. The restaurant itself consists of a variety of different dinning options and seating. Their table sizes range from 2-8+, along side available hibachi and bar seating arrangements. The room's main color scheme consists of red and black with dim overhead lighting. We visited later in the evening and it was relatively busy, but with how they arranged their tables, it never felt over crowded.
Our waiter was beyond nice, and almost felt like a part of our table company rather than a server by the end of the night. They never over-whelmed us with their presence. They never interjected or interrupted our conversations, but still managed to make time to check in on us enough to provided us the sense that we're well taken care of.
Our food, once ordered, was brought to us with little wait. They made sure that our appetizers were the first to arrive, which is always appreciated. The food itself was very authentic tasting and delicious. I would definitely recommend anything with Tako (one of my favorites). The pricing was as expected if not low for the quality of food we received.
The evening I shared with my friend at Kyoto was one I wish I could re-live weekly. This restaurant is down right charming, if not alluring, even. I would highly recommend this establishment for date-nights or business meetings (given it's mysterious aroma). Whether you're in the area, or staying at the hotel, Kyoto can satisfy both your sushi...
Read moreLet me start by saying I've lived in Clarks Summit for 5 years and have always wanted to try this place. I love hibachi and the experience so I was looking forward to liking this place. Let me start here: In the middle of COVID 2020 you think they wouldn't jam pack the place but we were sat less than 2 feet from other guests, and there was a bridal shower going on. I should have let my anxiety take me out at that moment but I foolishly stayed. Our Fountain drinks tasted funny, I ordered sweet tea and my son a Sprite. Both had an odd flavor, He asked me to try his drink and it was odd, I sipped my tea and it also had this weird aftertaste. I didnt want to complain and I still have an open mind at this point maybe its the line of the fountain machine who knows. We both ordered the hibachi chicken entrees and then our waiter disappeared..... for a long time and someone else just dumped our soup and salad on the table before quickly disappearing as well. Hibachi chicken entree arrived and again it was literally tossed on table in front of us and the original waiter walked away immediately. Did not ask if we needed anything - I wanted to ask for new drinks and napkins but didn't get a chance. The chicken was overcooked so it was extremely dry and the rice had a funny flavor. The icing on the experience was when they brought a family in (about 5 people) to sit right aside of us. We were so close guaranteed less than 1 foot way, so I decided I'd had enough. I had to flag down the bartender/waitress (?) and I asked for my check immediately. I wanted out of there so badly the food was terrible, service terrible and then risking Covid... NO THANKS ! Save your money - Save your health! HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. If they are wondering why I didn't leave a monetary tip - this is your TIP.... WORK ON CUSTOMER SERVICE, STOP RISKING OTHERS FOR A DOLLAR AND...
Read moreI’ve been looking for good Japanese since I moved to the area last year and this place is by far the best! I grabbed a little bit of everything to get a good idea of their menu and I was not disappointed. The onion soup was the only item I might pass on next time. It had a really nice flavor but was a bit over salted for my tastes. The gyoza was fantastic! Normally the meat to wrap ratio is heavily in favor of the dough but not here. The wrap was light and crisp, the meat perfectly cooked and seasoned. Every bite was perfect. The vegetable spring rolls were the best I’ve had in a very long time. Again, the wrap wasn’t too thick and just flaked apart when you bit into it. The seasoning was amazing. I could’ve made a meal out of just those. The angry chicken was on point. The meat was perfectly buttered and cooked with a nice fry. The batter was thin and seasoned well so you get the flavor of the chicken and sauce more than the batter. The chicken was moist even after it cooled down. Normally chicken cooked this way gets chewy when cool but not this. The coconut shrimp were amazing, a nice subtle coconut flavor to complement the shrimp and the sauces were the perfect type for them. The sushi…. Perfection on a plate. We got the spicy maki combo. The spicy crab was my favorite but the tuna and salmon were amazing as well. Perfect balance of flavor and heat with generous portions of the respective fish wrapped in not too much rice and a very mild tasting nori. Honestly the ONLY critique I have on the sushi is that the rolls were not sliced evenly, but that is really splitting hairs. I rarely give out 5* reviews but Kyoto in Clark’s Summit deserves much more than 5. This restaurant is now going to be top of my list. Thank you for such an...
