⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5) “Scratch-made comfort food and small-town hospitality at its best”
Hazel’s Good Eats is one of those places that instantly feels like home the moment you walk through the door. The name says it all — it’s good eats in every sense. From the smell of fresh coffee and breakfast on the griddle to the cheerful chatter of regulars, it’s the kind of small-town diner experience that feels timeless.
I ordered breakfast here and couldn’t have been happier. The eggs were cooked exactly as ordered, the bacon crisp and full of flavor, and the hash browns had that perfect crunch without being greasy. The biscuits and gravy were phenomenal — creamy, peppery, and clearly made from scratch. Portions are generous, and every plate looks and tastes like it was cooked by someone who truly cares about the food leaving their kitchen.
Service is friendly, fast, and genuine. My server checked in just enough to keep my coffee full and make sure everything was spot on. Even during a busy morning rush, the team kept things moving smoothly with smiles all around.
The atmosphere ties it all together — cozy booths, local touches, and that easy pace that makes you want to linger just a little longer after finishing your meal.
If you’re anywhere near Clarkston, Hazel’s is a must-stop. It’s the kind of place that represents everything great about small-town dining — great food, kind people, and a sense of pride you can taste...

That said, Hazel’s is very much a breakfast place — not so much a lunch stop. My family and I came through town needing a quick midday meal, and not knowing the focus, we ordered a burger and fish and chips. Our daughter got the pancakes — and she was absolutely delighted. Fluffy, buttery, golden perfection.
The lunch options, by contrast, were underwhelming. The burger was fine, and the fries were actually quite good. But the fish and chips didn’t have much flavor and tasted like something that probably wasn’t made in-house. The tartar sauce was unexpectedly sweet, and I ended up skipping it.
As we ate, I found myself gazing longingly at the breakfast plates arriving at nearby tables. They looked fantastic — and clearly, that’s what Hazel’s does best.
Still, we really enjoyed the visit. The staff knew many customers by name, and the whole place radiated a sense of community and care.
Next time, we’ll know what to order — and we’re genuinely looking forward to trying breakfast...
Read moreThank you so much! Had surgery yesterday and wanted Hazel's for when I was done. My husband ordered two half garbage potatoes one of them with no veggies and the gravy on the side. Everything came out great but the lids were marked wrong. So my husband of course automatically grabbed the one that was regular and just ate it not knowing that the one that said no veggies was actually the one with vegetables and gravy on it. By the time I was awake from surgery and wanted to eat my food Hazel's was closed. I usually would have just bought another one but I'm going to be out of work for 6 weeks due to the surgery so I thought I would try and call. I called this morning and they gladly need remade my meal. I have only ever had great food with great service at this place. Thank you...
