LONG REVIEW
I visited this place for the first time on Dec. 28, 2024 after being invited to a surprise birthday dinner. I am not a huge Hibachi fan, but the portions were large: they gave you fried rice and noodles, so you have more than enough food.
The saving grace to this experience was our cook Stan, as he was the most friendly person we encountered during this visit. That’s the only reason I give a star for service. As mentioned, this was a surprise dinner so although the reservation was for 3:30 pm, the person hosting the event asked us to arrive at 3:15 so we can sit and they could walk in to all 25 of us there for the surprise.
When we arrived, majority of the party was there (except the person who was hosting n the honoree), but the two males (who I assume to be managers or owners) refused to seat us. After one person in the party reiterated this was a surprise, one of the males (younger no glasses) nonchalantly said “well you all can stand outside and surprise them”. Then comes another male (older with glasses) and he kept saying we could not sit down because of a multitude of reasons. First it was because it wasn’t the reservation time, then we couldn’t sit because everyone wasn’t there, lastly he said we couldn’t sit because we couldn’t take up three tables (due to there being 25) and not have everyone show.
None of that made sense because #1 a reservation was made #2 a deposit was put down to secure said reservation #3 they automatically charge 18% gratuity #4 there were 25 of us so they were going to make at least $1,000 from our party alone.
So I asked what is the point of a reservation and a deposit and gratuity if we can’t be accommodated? The older male with glasses said “we don’t do large parties and we can’t let you all take up room since we’re expecting 230 people tonight [for dinner throughout the night]”. To which I responded “ohh ok I see, it’s because we’re black right? Because I guarantee you if it was a group of your people (Japanese) or white, you wouldn’t be doing all of this”. To which he became instantly offended, got an attitude and tried to keep arguing back and forth telling me “don’t try that race stuff with me”. Then he threatened to cancel the reservation because he said I “gave him attitude”. After arguing back and forth with us, and threatening to let $1000+ walk out the door, we were finally able to sit.
Then we were told by the bad built, bad attitude, bad wig waitress, Bri, that there was a 15 minute timer set and we had to order within that time frame and if we don’t then we can’t order. Our guest of honor had not arrived yet and at this point it was about 340pm and we’re getting to the seats, getting settled n looking at menus. We asked can we wait until they come, Bri said no, we couldn’t do that. Then she went to ask and magically it became ok, but she was not happy about it, even though she’d be getting her 18% tip automatically.
Th guest arrived and the surprise went well, but everything leading up to it was very complicated and unnecessary. I guess because the waitress Bri and one other black waitress was in the building, that was the older male with glasses justification for not being racist. All in all, the bill ended up being more than $1000 and when the host confronted the gentleman (at the end of service) who had everything to say earlier, he magically had no issues n said there were none and could now barely speak English.
Needless to say, this was first and last time here and I’d advise any black person with a large party to...
Read moreI love bringing my friends and family to this restaurant, but last nights trip resulted in another trip to the Emergency Room. The chefs here were not properly trained on cross contamination, which resulted in my 17 year old in the Emergency Room all night because our chef decided that just “wiping the spatula off with a towel” was good enough. I always am sure to let not just the chef but the server as well the she is allergic to shellfish, and when we had noticed he cooked the shrimp on the same skillet as her meat, I had spoke up and said “Sir, she is allergic to shrimp”. His exact response was “Oh” and then just moved the shrimp to the other side of the grill. I then expected him to make her a new steak, instead he still gave her that one and said “Don’t worry, they did not touch”. I have worked in restaurants before, and one very large part of training is on cross contamination. It does not matter if they touch or not. Once the chef has realized she was no longer going to touch her plate, he offered to make her a new one. Issue was that her whole plate at that point was ruined, and all he was worried about was making her a new steak, on a grill he DIDNT EVEN CLEAN PROPERLY AFTER. I expected him to clean the grill after cooking the shrimp on it, he did not, he just threw a new piece of steak on there for her. I spent almost 4 hours last night was my youngest in the Emergency Room while she was short on breath, heavy eyes, and was starting to itch, and the only thing that the manager was focused on was “Do you want more food togo?” We were far pasted that, it was no longer trusted. If you have serious allergies, I would suggest choosing a steakhouse that has properly trained their chefs on how cross contamination works, and I really do hope to be hearing back from the restaurant before we send it to the hands of a professional. Gravely disappointed and will never be returning. I hope the owner knows how his employees are putting others (especially a child) in danger of...
Read moreHello Oska,
I recently just made my visit today and did not have a good experience. I definitely felt the chef was new.
I totally understand that part of being new, but being new should not come to the expense of the customers experience. As it applies in this case.
I would highly suggest not coming here if the cook has a black hat. I believe this means they are new. In this case he did not interact with us nor even want to make eye contact. The portion sizes he gave out where huge differences! After mentioning to the Maneger there was a need of improvement, he did not try to rectify the experience.
I ordered a steak and shrimp dinner combo and was only given 4 more shrimp than just ordering the steak combo. I am sure there are complaints of portion sizes often, but today there was huge discrepancies between the other couple and I. I dont want to come from a place of “oh they got this or that”. But when you can see huge differences between the portions, I do think it should be given as feedback.
Overall we did voice these concerns and I do hope there will be improvements made. Would have appreciated a discount on the combo meal or some solution to make the experience better before leaving.
Would not recommend coming here and try to find a different spot!
Thank...
